Its about her character Ixa saving orphans like herself on Christmas Day.
It was getting close to Christmas and Ixa was passing around on the street before the home she shares with other orphans. She just knew that something was brewing, and it wasnt anything good. Her arms wrap around her as snow starts to fall. After a few minutes outside in the falling snow, Ixa finally heads inside, not wanting to get sick.
A couple of the other orphans were in the home and messing around. They all tired to have fun and keep each other in a good mood during this time of the year. No one, except maybe the cops that stay there during the night, like Christmas. Many of the kids there were abandonedby their parents, or lost their parents at a young age and had no where to go. They all worked together to get other orphans free from the many bad people out there who take advantage of them.
Ixa takes a moment to look around at th other kids there. Some were normal kids, others were like her. Her robotic eyes take in everything as she looks around, her long and floppy rabbit ears twitch slightly at the tip. She was no normal child in the least bit. Ixa had been born a human child, but after being experimented on, she was now more robotic than human, and she was growing rabbit parts as well. Her ears and buck teeth were proof enough of that.
She walks over to one of the normal children, one that has been there for a long time, much like herself. "Something is going on, but I'm not sure what. I don't know how I know for sure, but I do. I'm going out for a little while to check on some things. If I'm not back by morning, send out a search party."
Turning, she heads back out the door, keeping herself bundled up to stay warm. As she walks close to him, she glances at Yuu and blushes slightly. She quickly looks away, not wanting to let on to her secret crush she harbors for him.
After leaving the makeshift home, she heads to the normal haunts. She moves stealthily about, not wanting to let on to any adults that she is about. A few hours later she is walking in a part of town that she hasnt been before. She has already checked out all the places she knows for any signs of orphans needing to be saved. Everything had looked good, so she moved on to places she hasn't been before, but has heard about from some of the other orphans.
Suddenly, or so it seemed, a dark shadow passed over Ixa. She looks up to see what it was that blocked the sun so well. A large building loomed overhead and stretched the length of a whole block. Looking around slowly, Ixa sneaks into the building, something telling her that there was something wrong with it.
Once inside, she found out exactly what it was that was bothering her about the place. In the room that she ended up in, there were cages upon cages upon cages. All of them were filled with children. It looked like there could be hundreds of cages in this one, large room. Ixa's eyes go wide as she looks about herself. She knew right away that she had to do what she could to save all of these kids.
She walks up to one of the cages and the child inside of it looks at her with sunken eyes. It is obvious right away that they were not being taken care of in the least bit. The child was nothing more than skin and bones, and very tired.
"I'm here to help you. I know I can bring help to all of you here. What is it that they do to you here?" She looks on at the sad child, not even sure if it was a boy or girl.
When the child spoke, its voice was weak and raspy. "They keep us held here most of the time. Sometimes, they let us out, but that is only to inject us with some strange stuff and then they watch to see what happens." It was hard for the child to speak, and Ixa thought it was a girl, but it could have also been a young boy. It was too hard to tell with how weak the child was.
"Do you know how many of you there are?" Ixa looks worried as the child coughs deeply, probably from the exertion to speaking.
The child just shakes its head before falling to the floor of its cage. "Please, if your going to help, do it soon. I don't know how long any of us can last."
Ixa nods and gets up, moving quickly and quietly back out of the building. She carefully makes her way back to the home. As soon as she gets there, she goes up to one of the cops that happens to be there at the time. She tells him about the building and what she found inside.
The cops do what they can to check the place out without it being obvious what they are looking for. They end up having to do a lot of it on their down time, since they have nothing but Ixa's word to go off of.
After a week of the cops not being able to find much of anything, Ixa decides to take things into her own hands. She gathers up several of the other orphans and makes a plan on a way to go and either save the other poor kids, or to get what the cops are needing to save them. They head off in the middle of the night, going out of the home in pairs or threes so as not to attract any kind of attention. Once the group, numbering around fifteen, are all outside, Ixa leads the way to the place she has found. It takes them nearly twenty minutes to reach the warehouse that the children are being kept at. She lead the children to the back entrance that she found her last time here.
“Be quiet and follow me. We can try to break the kids out, but I don't know if we can do it just us. There are so many of them in here,” she murmurs as she goes inside. Once they are all inside, she leads them to the large room with all the cages. Looking around, she is dumbfounded. There is not a single cage left in the room. The only sign that there was anything there in the first place is all the darker spots on the dusty floor. The kids start to search about for any clues as to where they might have gone to. It doesn't take long before Yuu comes running back, getting all of the kids back together as he moves.
“I think I found them. I found a secret entrance into a basement here. When I opened it, I thought I heard the sound of a kids voice down there. I wanted to come and get everyone before going down myself.” All of the kids rush off to see what it is that Yuu had found.
Slowly, they accend in to the basement, keeping an eye out for any adults or traps. The abused kids are indeed down in the large basement. Instead of there being about a hundred cages, there is actually close to two hundred. Moving quickly and quietly, the kids go around and talk to each one of the caged children to find out all that they can. When they group back up, they compair notes on what has happened, and who they are.
“So, from what we can gather, after the cops started showing an interest in this place, they moved the cages down here. They didn't want the cops to find them and take them away.”
“They have taken these kids from off the streets for the most part. Some of them did have families at some time or another. Now they all seem to be orphans, like us.”
They stand around and talk for a little bit about what they can do. All the cages are locked up tightly, and with more than one lock. It would take a great deal of time to set the children free all at once. No one wanted to take the chance on getting a few kids out, and then the others being moved to a totally new place where no one could find them again. Ixa sighs as they head out of the building, promising to make a plan to get all the kids out of there.
When they get home, all the kids go to sleep. After a long night of searching and trying to figure out what to do, they are all very tired. Ixa tosses and turns in her bed as she tries to figure out a plan. Just as she is falling asleep, a plan forms in her head on what they.
In the morning, Ixa gets up and hurries to breakfast. Once all the cops are away from the table, she tells the other kids about her idea. Christmas is just around the corner, so it would be a perfect time to go and spring the kids free. They could work on getting all the things that they are going to need to get them all out in the last few days till the holiday. Some of the older kids get their hands on tools that can be used to get into the cages. Everything gets stashed close to the building so that they wouldn't have to try and carry anything over the day of the escape.
On Christmas Eve, the few cops that are in the house put out some presents for each of the kids. None of them believe in Santa, so they don't bother pretending that there is such a man out there. The kids smile, enjoying getting to get gifts. There are a few kids who don't understand what Christmas is, so they think something is expected of them in return. The more knowing kids have a joy of telling them that they don't have to get anything for the adults in return. It's just what they do during this time of year.
As it gets to be late at night, Ixa starts in with her plan. All the kids head to bed early, setting up the beds so that it would look like they were all safe and in bed. Then, being very quiet, they all sneak out and head for the warehouse. They talk in quiet whispers once everyone is there, getting themselves into place. Silent as can be, they slip into the building. Everything is quiet as they move down to the basement. All of the cages are still there, and each still has a kid inside of it. A few of the older kids go around to tell everyone to stay quiet and away from the front of the cages. They aslo tell them that as soon as they are free from the cage, they need to join the other kids in the middle of the room so they can all leave together.
While they are getting word to the kids farther away from the center of the room, the other twenty or so kids start to break through locks and breaking the cages open. They stay as quiet as they can as they work, not wanting to attract the attention of anyone that might show up. After a few hours of work, all of the caged kids are finally free. Ixa runs up and out to the ally, signiling the teen stationed outside. The lanky teen goes to a payphone and dials 911.
“You gotta come do something! There are hundreds of kids storming the streets down here!” He then procceds to give them the address and starts yelling for them to hurry up. The kid waits till he hears the sirens in the distance before hanging the phone up.
At the sound of the sirens, all of the kids go running out of the building. It doesn't take long for the kids to fill the streets, there being well over two hundred there. The sound of screeching car tires is heard above the sound of all the kids rejoycing from being set free. Cops soon flood the streets, trying to get the kids to calm down so that they can figure out what is going on.
Officer Boyd steps forward after finding Ixa. “Are these the kids you had told us about?” He looks at her sternly, but a smile on his face. He knew that she would try something since he and his men couldn't find anything themselves.
She nods and looks up at him, grinning. “Yes, they are. I told you there were here, and I couldn't see letting them spend Christmas all locked up in cages.” She laughs as a small child comes up to her and gives her a big hug. It's the one form that first night here, the one that she spoke to. She pats the little ones head and smiles. Looking up, she sees that many ambulances are showing up now.
The paramedics do their best to gather all of the children up, putting several in each ambulace to get them all to the hospital. Only the ones who did the rescuing are left standing in the streets, proud of what they have done. Officer Boyd goes with the kids to the hospital, wanting to make sure all of them are ok. Many of the childern look as if they wouldn't have lasted much longer inside of those cages.
As the ambulances leave, a nearby clock tower strikes the hour of one in the morning. They managed to get the kids saved right on Christmas day. The remaining officers there give the other kids a ride back to the home, making sure they make it safe and sound. Well into the night, police are searching for answers to what was going on in that warehouse, and who owned the place.
By the time it is full morning, there are arrest warrents out for both people who were on the lease, and a manhunt is started to find them. Officer Boyd stops by the house long enough to let the rescuers know that all the kids are ok. Many of them are going to be kept under watch as they heal from all that they have been through. All of them are malnourished, but some not as bad off as others. After letting them know everything, he heads home to see his own kids and get some rest.
Everyone celebrates a large victory with so many children being rescued on this day of days. Ixa even gives Yuu a great big hug, grinning up at him before he blushes and pushes her away. She just chuckles, knowing that that his just his way. On this day, thirty kids become saviors to two hundred. A day to remember for sure.
