Kitty Kick

Another blue pencil sketch. I was looking for some pose ideas online and someone suggested I look at some exercise / gymnastic / sports poses. Hmm. Looked through some sites, got a few ideas and came up with this one. It's not anything special and I kind of like it that way.

I have some other ideas to draw up next.

This is a standard non-photo blue .09 mechanical pencil lead. Once scanned in (scanners see non-photo blue just fine), I run auto levels on it and this is the result.

woah.. where do you find non-photo blue mechanical lead? I've looked at Office Depot, Office max, Micheals, AC Moore and even Hobby Lobby.

You'll never find it at a retail outlet unless that is a drafting supply.

I found it on Ebay which has multiple listing at any given time. I found this .05" size in the first search. They have it in .05, .07. and .09.

I got mine at Hobby Lobby. If a place sells single Prismacolor pencils, that's where you'll find them. The thing with Prismacolor non-photo blue pencils, though, is that you can't erase them.

Yeah, I got the pencils there as well. I would like to try my hand with the mechanical lead though. I do better sketching with a mechanical pencil, so maybe I'd be better with the lead. But thanks for the tip. ^^ much appreciated

My first impression was "off balance1 OFF BALANCE!" Then I recall trying something similar and falling forward onto that foot... So, no, this DOES work. My brain just leaps to conclusions.

Yep, in a kick like this, your momentum is carried forward and you land on that foot. If you had hit something, you might be forced backwards a bit.

What I always wonder about a kick like that is, how often do you need to kick an 8 foot tall man in the face?

The photo I was looking at was a person kicking one of those punching sacks/dummies, but figured furries are a bit smaller in height and might need to kick up a little higher.

Dunno, either way I like the off balance look so I drew the pose in a manner I preferred.

Kew. I do like it. It just made me think of those pictures and such of people doing kicks like that, and sometimes they're kicking targets 8 feet in the air, which always made me wonder the purpose. I didn't mean to come across as complaining about the pose in this picture. :)
