So, i decided to try some things out, and before i knew it i was going for the full blown coloring, shading and all the rest. needless to say I think I found my inking technique, and now I just need to practice it more to develop the steady hand. some more work at coloring and shading wouldn't hurt. So here is some color and a silly background featuring the masked spelling of the caracters name in her own language.... yes I made an entire written language for her race before I ever did a character reference. I love it now, but give me a bit i'm sure I'll be back to hating on it.

You're absolutely right about the steady hand (something I don't have, which makes my marksmanship sad when I go out more than a dozen meters). What you should realize you're doing well is proportions. Take a look at this dissection of Rob Liefeld and see how good you really are at what should be considered the foundations of drawing!
