I personally approach things with a dryer style, albeit I did include a ":p" within my most to denote that I was being overgeneralizing and facetious as a means of humor.
Unfortunately tone doesn't convey will within text, which makes dry humor even harder to distinguish from assholish statements.
Going on the tangent that I am an asshole, however- in my most primal, juvenile states I do embody the stereotypical notions of a male. Be it testosterone induced or simply socialized, I am inclined to act in a demeaning manner as a means of toying around with my friends. When I'm being silly, I'm more likely to act like this than I am to act sophisticated.

smoking is someone else's choice for their body and they start for their own reasons. Judging people for smoking is like judging someone for eating hamburgers every day. It's not your business. If you don't want to be around people who smoke, politely ask them (if they're a friend) not to smoke around you. If they're a stranger, GO AROUND THEM AND HOLD YOUR BREATH.
It's not the biggest thing in the world to accept that other people don't conform to your views and that not everything will be how you want it.

Aw, poor dude. I remember the first time someone passed me a cigarette going pretty much just like this. Was miserable and I damn near almost lost my lunch, surprising I ever picked up the habit at all after that experience. Not to mention, the kid who gave me the cig was far less understanding than Jordan xD
