My last year or so spent with my late German Shepherd was in the Rocky Mountains of western Colorado, up at 9,000 feet or so. I miss my German Shepherd quite a bit, but the last year I had with her up there was the happiest I have ever been. The air was so clean, and it was so incredibly quiet ... just the breeze rustling through the high-altitude alpine evergreens, the faint distant rumble of the creek through the canyon. I never needed a leash to walk her, she naturally stayed by my side but loved the walks we'd take on trails through the alpine-forested mountains.

I like to twist things around, and so I commissioned  reuxlette to reverse my memory, have my German Shepherd drawn as an anthro taking my feral wolf fursona for a walk.
