My last year or so spent with my late German Shepherd was in the Rocky Mountains of western Colorado, up at 9,000 feet or so. I miss my German Shepherd quite a bit, but the last year I had with her up there was the happiest I have ever been. The air was so clean, and it was so incredibly quiet ... just the breeze rustling through the high-altitude alpine evergreens, the faint distant rumble of the creek through the canyon. I never needed a leash to walk her, she naturally stayed by my side but loved the walks we'd take on trails through the alpine-forested mountains.
I like to twist things around, and so I commissioned
reuxlette to reverse my memory, have my German Shepherd drawn as an anthro taking my feral wolf fursona for a walk.

She sure wowed me with this. She poured a lot of work into this and did an amazing job.
I would love for my sheppy to take me for another walk, that's for sure. Its so wonderful to see her brought back to life in art, even when I twist it around like this for the fun of it. I have such fond memories of those walks ... it was so peaceful and quiet, and she and I were both so happy to be with each other.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know all too well what it's like to lose a close campaigion. my latest journal kinda explains how I'm still here pushing though it.
I wish I could do more then say I'm sorry. I realy do. may she forever live with you in your heart and in your memories. and if you keep her close ehough she will be there with you in your dreams.

yeah but the worst thing we can do to them and to our selves is to try and forget.

It can be hard to move on for some of us. I did nothing, really ... it just took a long time, I am embracing her memory now and while it is still present, the pain of her absence has dulled over the years. Some fantastic artists have helped bring her back to life for me over the past year or so since I've started commissioning art of her.
well I'm glad its getting better for you slightly. I'm s sorry for you. i felt the same way when two of the foxes I was caring for got killed. they were almost fully recovered then some asshole with a rifle came along. but yeah I've lost 4 more since then and I'll never move on.
