Well, speakin' as one of the cursèd hordes...
I drink decaf because I love coffee, but caffeine screws me over in a especially unpleasant way. I get a rush from it, and that's all good, but then I'll spend the next two to four days oscillating between exhaustion, hyperactivity, elation and profound gloom.
So decaf is like nicotine sweets: not satisfactory, but I take it to fend off the urge for the real thing, because I know that won't do me no good.
