[COMM] Bloodi Epic Mount - Etienne
I can’t believe it has been back in 2012 when I started the Bloodi Epic Mount series… I totally could have sworn I made them last year. Man… time is flying… X_x
Anymoo… have the first BEM with Bloodi in his new shape in it! This one was made for Tekumseh and his snow hare character, Etienne. The general theme is slightly Asian, leaning on the outfits of a TAO band, that is touring in Germany.
I must admit I enjoyed working with complementary colours a lot! What still gives me trouble though is shading exotically coloured fur in a realistic way. I always have a hard time getting the shades and highlights right so that it gets the same depth as for example white oder black fur would. In this regard I am awfully happy with how Bloodi’s hindlegs turned out!
There’s hoping this is the start of a new series with at least four or more pieces to join this one over the course of the year. There are still so many themes and possible outfits and shapes for Bloodi explore… <3

Well, the commissioner for this one happened to approach me and waited for almost a year till I was ready for another attempt. >_> I am so ashamed it took me so long, but this is exactly the reason why I don't do waiting lists.
Several people mentioned they'd be interested in a BEM commission, among them also friends of mine, so I'd prioritize those. Other than that I'll probably offer them up for auction eventually. Or maybe not... thing is that I need to like the idea, too. There needs to be at least a certain amount of either detailed costumes, dynamics, interesting pose or light effects in it to be worthy being called "epic". Also the amount of change Bloodi might go through will also be important wether or not I'd like to draw said commission and in auctions I'll have little to no influence on that. We'll see about that, I guess. X3

Though I might say that the picture is worth the waiting :3
Hm, and what about some kind of 'idea contest'? So that you open - let's say - one or two spots (depending on how much time you have and doing the art for your friends, of course ^^) and like, the idea that appeals the most to you, you'll draw? I saw other artists do that though I don't know if you'd do that. Just a thought of mine. So then you can kind of chose what style would fit Bloodi the most of it and decide to do or not to do it :)

I did that more or lest with the first round I made. I am not sure which way is preferrable. Auctions might be a nice way for me to get some extra cash on top (which I'll sadly need soon), but it'll limit my freedom and I might end up not drawing something that's epic enough. With your suggestion I will make sure to pic the idea that appeals to me the most, but I will have to turn down people (as I won't be opening up more than one or two slots at a time, due to how limited my free time is). It's really hard to decide though. X_x
The next ones will be given out to certain people though, so I might be full regarding BEM commissions for this year... but then again this depends on wether or not those people will actually still be willing and able to commission me for them and wether or not I will be able to work all those piece off. So many variables. *g*

Gooosh, this sounds more complicated than some stuff Einstein would say *g* though I can totally understand you, it's not that ^^ But thinking about financial situations it might be better to just do an auction, do the art for your friends - when they're still interested - and should there be a bit of more free time then you can do them as a regular commission or something. Time is a rare thing in times like these and one should enjoy it :3
I am sorry. I tend to overcomplicate things at time by worrying too much and trying to please everybody somehow. >_O
I'll just have to take one step at a time and see how it goes. :) And whichever option I will pick in the end, I will announce it here and people will definately have time to reply. I don't like doing "first come - first serve" commission offers.

Just a thought on a method that would allow you to choose a character that would be worthy of a Bloodi Epic Mount and also maximize the amount you would receive for it.
It would not be an auction exactly because no one (besides you) would know what anyone else had bid, only speculate. So someone seriously interested would submit their character design and along with it, a bid or offer. That bidder, knowing that there would be stiff competition, would likely bid high, speculating that others will be doing the same, and probably bid the max that they would have during a normal auction. (I know I would!)
Once this "bidding/submissions" period has ended, you would be able to sort through the submissions and pick which appeal to you and then use the bid amounts to make a final decision weighing the 'appeal factor' vs. 'monetary factor' together.

Once again you did a gorgeous job on the overall sense of textures and details as you did extremely well on the sense of lighting/shading, the coloring and tones, and just everything about the intricate aspects of the rabbit's clothing with the patterns and semi-shine to it in addition to how well you did to define Bloodhound's musculature and fur too. The overall designs, and finished look of everything is truly impressive as you did remarkably well on this.
Bloodhound seems very different than what I remember of them. I'm guessing a lot has changed with them over time. :P

Thaaaaank you! ^^ I admit - while rather boring compositionwise - this is one of my personal favourites of the series. :D Also mainly due to the textures and such.
Hehe, and yeah... a lot has happened to my spacepuppies in the meantime. It was a difficult process, buuuuut I am soooo glad I followed it through. The result might be alienating for most folks, but to me it just feels so much more... right. <3
