ARTISTS: BE BRUTALL HONEST
PROGRESS

Seeing as I was at Furnal Equinox 2014 - a convention with a Dealers Den full of furry artists - I felt it wouldn't hurt to show an artist or two some of my work and have them offer their take on things. I've had quite insightful conversations with a few kind artists, one of whom was the one of the Guests of Honor,
. After a bit of an art-related discussion, I showed her my sketchbook. I figured she'd only check out the one or two recent pages I wanted to show her; she ended up looking through the whole thing, telling me that I wasn't doing too bad. She liked what she saw; and any compliments from super-pro artists like her make me feel good about myself.
I told her about the style I was currently hacking away at - Vilppu's - and how that I'm supposed to draw from the imagination and not exactly copy stuff and such. She recommended that I try using references and to always use them (as most artists do). Maybe I could get people into photos how I want them, take their photo, and use the picture as a reference for myself. She also informed me about the head-count and how it's often six heads that make up an adult figure (I think that's what she said).
With this knew batch of sage knowledge and friendly advice in tow, I took a shot at drawing "mini-refs" of poses I saw around me and use them as refs for the main figures I wanted to draw out.
In retrospect - as far as the head count goes - maybe I messed up the first time around; my figures look shorter than I'd like 'em to be (or I could still be not getting the overall structures correct for all I know). Maybe I should've consulted
's guides for how tall certain figures should be. With that said, however, I particularly like the figure that looks as though it's sitting down on a chair. I still don't think I'm getting the whole perspective and foreshortening thing yet, but it's another start.
Attempted a bit of drawing at Furnal Equinox 2014 with some advice from
. As always, I'm willing to improve, so please don't feel bad critiquing me; it's the only way I'll learn. Thank you very much!

Yeah, I kinda figured. I mean proportions in general are a bitch to deal with. I can never seem to get them right even now (even though I'm not using this particular method). ;w;
Still, I'm glad you enjoy my earlier attempts regardless! Hopefully I've noticeably improved - and continue to improve - between here and my more recent drawings on my page. ;>w<

Aw, thank you, Lupus! ^w^ Ugh, tell me about it. I haven't even tackled perspective well enough yet, let alone proportions! ;_;
Yeah, that's true. It may feel glacier-slow to me, but practice is practice I suppose. lol I'll keep doing my bet to improve and put out more artwork that I hope you'll enjoy! And while I'm on the subject, thank you for adding a couple of my drawings to your Favorites! :3
