This morning... He didn't look like himself. He couldn't get up... He couldn't move... He wouldn't drink or eat. He was so skinny and lived to be 16 yrs... His brother died a I think 2 yrs ago and well... We knew this was going to happen.
Our family isn't happy but it had to be done. He was such a good listener, he would give you the biggest hug. His tail wagged like the spinning wheel of a windmill... He loved the snow and enjoyed eating Doritos...
I miss you big guy... We all do..

Awww, Dem. I feel for you. I had to do the same thing for my black lab, Abby. Last Sunday, she was basically doing the same thing you just described. The only difference is my dog started to refuse to eat the next day but she still would drink water if I brought it too her. I even gave her a few pieces of Rigatoni with sauce on it and she ate that but when I brought her food dish over to her, she took her snout and pushed it away. She NEVER refused to eat.
So, you're not alone, my dear. You're not alone. You, me and
jaleo have all lost our beloved dogs this week. May they gather up in heaven the way we artists gather here.
Btw, this was my pup, http://www.furaffinity.net/view/12940568/ She would nap on my bed while I did my art. Today, March 15th 2014, if the first time that I didn't have her on my bed while I drew. Well, that's not totally accurate. I took her urn and put her ashes in the very same spot where she's laying in the pic.
Oh, and are you planning to have another dog? I said that I wouldn't want another one because she meant so much to me. A classmate of mine shared with me on FaceBook, this "Dog's Will". It says to give a stray or unwanted dog the love you gave to me and such. It's a way of saying give another poor soul a home where they were loved and happy. I intend to do that. That pic made me cry every time I read it.
This is that very pic, http://fortheloveofthedogblog.com/w.....will-FTLTD.jpg Like I said, it made me cry a lot every time I read it.

I'm sorry hun, I know how that feels to lose the closest family loved one who wasn't a pet but apart of your family. Cleo was that to me and she was one of the greatest cats that I ever knew. He's better now and that's what matters. He is still around to resting right where he always does. So no tears of sadness just joy cause now he is at peace and that is the greatest feeling of them all.
I am truly sorry for the loss that you have suffered, may your friend rest well within the time that follows. For all of the time that had come to be his own, what you've shared is never to be forgotten and hopefully only another fond memory to keep within one's heart of hearts eternal.
