Now you got me wondering how Neil Diamond would've sung this song.

I really dislike the original version of this song. I think it's dull, lifeless and lacks evocation.

...And yet whenever anyone else covers the song it actually sounds good.

...Anyone else besides the guys who performed the song originally. I'm not saying I dislike your cover; yours is actually probably one of the better ones I've heard.

In the words of Todd in the Shadows, "Years ago, people might have gotten away with calling it 'intriguingly minimalist,' but why don't we just call it what it is: LAZY!?"

I think that the Pentatonix cover is probably my favorite cover, just because their version constantly has things going on in the background, uses multiple layers of melodies, and has an actual beat to it. Not to mention the singers' voices have passion behind them, something that can't be said of the guys from A Great Big World...Oh wait, I'm sorry; guy. Couldn't even get the other guy in the group to sing. Instead, they just brought in Christina Aguilera to perform a completely uninspired harmony part.

...Also, I always kind of find myself chuckling whenever the original version gets to the 'And I will swallow my pride' line, just because it's hard to believe Christina Aguilera still has pride to swallow after the last eight years she's spent trying and failing to shock people.

Just out of curiosity, are you considering using this song in a Beach Bears chapter at some point?
