Haha! Crane Flies xD in the South we call them "Mosquito Eaters", Because as larvae they eat Mosquito larvae whoot whoot I rather have a Crane Fly than a Mosquito that be suckin mah blood and passing off some disease HA!

I always wondered why they were called Mosquito Eaters. We call them Mosquito Eaters up in Oregon too. ..Or possibly it's just my family thanks to Southern influence. Checking wikipedia, "Gollywhopper" is now my new favorite name for them.

I forgot that episode long ago... but yeah, i was that scared. xD
the worst of that moment was when that one actually hit the back of my head... and since they're not common where i live, was the reason i ended that scared of them.

Where I'm from, we call them "Mosquito Hawks"

Mainly cause they eat mosquitoes and mosquito larva. That and they look like a giant version of a mosquito.
