Uniforms and Equipment of Sergal Army Infantry: quote by the machine
gunner from Delta Company 3rd Platoon Death Knights 1-222nd AVN.
"I recall a time when a few of our superiors were nitpicky about clothing and equipment and shit, but none of them talk about that anymore. We Sergal have radically different anatomy from that of human beings, which makes it extremely difficult for us to wear what was made standardized for human beings. In acknowledgement that Thermoregulation is a big problem on the battlefield in the desert for Sergals, we have the freedom to choose from a wide variety of equipment options to circumvent that problem.
For instance, we sometimes wear those cloaks made for heat protection and camouflage purposes; this arid environment is rough for Northern Sergals. These cloaks do shield us from desert heat and sandstorms…to a degree. Sergal troops tend to be an easy target due to their mighty weaponry, as well as their easily exposed long ears and tail. So we have to be extra cautions regarding what we wear for camouflage. We hid ourselves, our silhouettes far from sight, by wearing these cloaks. It’s very effective for ambushing and night tactics. We even choose own scope and gun attachments, or in some cases, snatched one from an opposing Sergal. Just like this shield over here. I obtained this shield from an enemy soldier, and repainted and altered some parts. That’s one advantage to being a Sergal. We can utilize larger and heavier equipment that many normal men cannot even carry!
But when all is said and done, there is no absolute strength and weakness in desert combat. We could hold our ground well in dark, cold, night combat. But on the same coin, extreme sunlight and heat are a Sergal’s bane. You see? ‘The strongest troop may be the targeted first’. It’s all a matter of duality. Know your own limitation and observe the surrounding environment. That’s what’s most important for us.”

I definitely like this and the concept. The equipment of the "Modern Sergal." Really impressive. That almost fits to ideas I have for them if they were to integrate with our society and join the military forces.
My Sergal had his clothing and equipment based on what humans wear, but modified to fit him. And instead of that LMG there, he would carry an assault rifle, handgun, custom sword for melee combat, and urban combat uniform. For more dangerous fields of battle or on a different part of the galaxy, he utilizes the nanosuit inside his skin/fur that his wife injected into him.
But this is really a great and nice concept and picture

I can also tell that LMG there is an LSAT. The looks definitely give it away, not to mention the ammo belt. And for a second I thought that shield could also be used to deflect and protect from 5.56 mm bullets. Really interesting concept of what I would call the "Modern Sergal Soldier."
As a former M249 gunner, I can tell you for certain that the LMG in that Sergals hands is an M249.
But, to back myself up. Here is an M249:

And here is the LSAT:

As you can see, the one in the submission looks nothing like an LSAT.

Damn this so awesome... I'm at a loss of words. You guys did a really great job and exceeded my expectations.
The attention to detail you guys put into all of your work is just absolutely stunning. The expression on his face is extremely similar to mine while out on the range. It's almost as if you took my very being and transformed it into a sergal.
As for the unit information: I am actually assigned to Delta Company 1-4 Attack Reconnaissance Battalion. I would have asked you to put it on there, but at the time I did not know what unit I was being assigned. Still new to the army I was just coming out AIT (Advanced Individual Training) when I requested this commission. The writing on the shield was the unit I was assigned to during AIT while AAAO stands for "Anything, Anytime, Anywhere, Bar None" and is the motto from my Basic Combat Training unit. Charlie Company 2-39th Infantry Regiment.
What makes this piece all the better, my plattoon Sergeant as decided to assign me a M249 SAW.
I cannot begin to express my thanks for your amazing work, but I must say props and credit to SolidGrain.Lab for their amazing teamwork and art. I wish you luck on your next projects and that you all live a long and prosperous life for you have more than deserved it.

Reminds me of a line from Generation Kill:
"If Marines could get what they needed when they needed it we would be happy and wouldn't ready to kill people all of the time. The Marine Corps is like America's Pitbull. They beat us, mistreat us and every once in awhile, they let us out to attack someone."
