I'm always impressed how big wolves actually are, compared to a human. Thinking of my husky, who is quite big for a husky, and compared to this lady he is so...small xD

I know what you mean! Especially up close and personal it's really breathtaking - especially how big their heads are! Her son, "Tiger" was just a year old (he's not in the photo), and he was already bigger than both her and his father, too.

I hadn't eaten that much before this, but the ambassador wolves at the sanctuary are very people-friendly and the man who runs the program spoke with us about how to greet the wolves before we went in :) It really was a fantastic time - and before we left we got to do a group howl with the wolves - all of them "sung" along with us ^-^

Wolves are one of my totems. So I can't help but wonder, how it'd be to be with them. I'm enthralled by their magesty, like seeing a friendly I big cat (nothing like having a an 800lb house cat claim your lap! A Liger)

Still, beautiful picture and you're blessed. Maggie is a a pretty wolf and if she likes you. That screams so much about you as a whole. Animals can sense kin. And apparently that howl, said welcome to the pack

Wolves have always been my favorite animal, so this was truly a wonderful experience for me!
It was really thrilling to be greeted by the pack, and the Howl was sooo much fun :3 The employees told me I had a very convincing howl X3

If you ever make it here to Colorado again, you need to visit another famous wolf sanctuary. It's The Wolf and Wildlife Center in Divide Colorado. You can also go in with some of their wolves and it is wonderful. I haven't been to Mission Wolf in over 20 years. I am glad you had a good time though. You look very happy.

Thanks for the information! I had heard about that one (that's the one West of Colorado Springs, right?) - but we were staying way in South Colorado so Mission: Wolf was a lot closer. I loved the visit to the state, though, and I would love to go to the Wolf and Wildlife center if I do go back :)

if you're this into wolves, you should check out http://www.saintfrancissanctuary.org/ its a small wolf preserve actualy in texas (Montgomery), i used to try and volunteer there, but gas prices ruined that for me ._.

Thank you! Zoos had been the closest I'd gotten to full wolves before, though always enjoyed my visits. Wolf pups are so cute - so that sounds like a lucky encounter then! I hope you are able to meet with a grown wolf some day, too!

That's amazing. Unfortunately, when I visited Wolf Park in Indiana, I never got to be that close to the wolves (missed out on the meet and greet). But I did have a quiet moment with one of them through the fence...Apparently she didnt like people at all, but she came right to me. Totally envious of ya

I'm sorry to hear that. We got to the sanctuary really early and had to wait around for hours to get to do the meet and greet (we didn't know that it woudn't be until later that afternoon when we got there), but it was definitely worth it imho <3.

Seeing a wolf like this has been a dream of mine for a long time now. I've even found a wolf sanctuary pretty close by to where I live.

I got to meet one once, a handsome guy called T-bone; no kissing action though. There were other wolves but T-bone was the only social one, the others all kept their distance.
