Well, here it is. The continuation of Raider's Steel (You can find the previous chapter here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/13721440/ ) As I said before, I'd like to make one great picture to go with each chapter, so posting the whole thing could take a while. I'm working very hard to improve my own style and working with Photoshop. Sure, school might get in the way, but what's important to me is the smiles I can bring to a person's day. And to me, nothing brings out that feeling like a good story.
Now I won't delay you any longer…
But First!
Last time ON Raider's Steel:
Damian and Tony went on adventure to explore the ancient sunken castle on a dare. Tony had picked up a vengeful Honedge by mistake and was possessed by the long since dead knight Sir Torune Findabair. In desperation to protect his friend, Tony gave himself a fatal blow that was sure to kill him…
or so he had thought…
Time seemed to be getting longer and longer, but nothing changed… Eventually, the spirit stopped becoming restless. It wasn't like him. Before he'd have trouble with just sitting down and talking to people. In class he could hardly pay attention to the teacher as all he could think about was what he'd be doing outside. Leg bouncing, pen click-click-clicking, his hair becoming a tangled mess within the hour after sitting down. He had to be moving. Doing something. That was in his nature. Even after he became a Trainer he traveled the entire region in less than a few months. He didn't even bother earning any badges.
Now look at him. He couldn't move. Couldn't breath. He couldn't even twitch a muscle, not even feel it if he did. Floating was all that he knew. He couldn't exactly dream. Only remember the life he had before… this. After an eternity, he became content with just… existing. After all, he couldn't do anything else. Still, the memories were all that he had left.
Then the time came that something had changed…
The soul could tell something was different. Just something. He knew this feeling, but couldn't quite place it at first. Then the feeling grew stronger. He was… warm.
Warm, that's it. That's the feeling. That's what it was.
The soul was finally waking up again. He felt something again. Not just heat. He felt like someone was out there, outside his own little world. Soon his sense of time was slowly being restored. But instead of jumbled up messages, there were now time periods where his world felt warmer and colder. Not only that but his sense of gravity was being distributed around him. Soon he could feel his consciousness returning as well. Then came the moment where the soul didn't just exist, now he lived. As such he began to sleep for real.
Ch. 2 Maternity
Weeks later…
"Mama, look at how much it's wiggling now," a young kit announced, bouncing around her. He had just now woken up, completely overjoyed that the egg he was sleeping next to was twitching.
"I know," the Zoroark barely acknowledged her youngling, she had been awake for hours before her kit. Still, she laid there waiting for the morning sun.
"Is it time? Is it time," the energetic Zorua rubbed his head on the black and blue shell, "oh please, oh please, oh please! I wanna play with it so bad!"
"Calm down little one," she smiled at her son, "I don't think the baby's going to be ready to play for some time after it's born."
"I wonder what he's going to be like. I wanna meet him soooo bad!"
The mother couldn't believe that the egg that her little kit had found was going to hatch. Of course she didn't think that it would, considering the condition that it was in. The mystery egg was found deep within the nearby Mystery Dungeon. It’s shell was cold as the stones it was buried near.
By some miracle the tree’s roots didn’t crush it. Still, her youngling was insistent and she could not refuse him even if she tried. He kept it with him everywhere he went. Never once leaving it, the kit kept it safe and warm. Now was the moment that he had been praying for for weeks. The shell cracked.
"Gah I broke it," her kit screamed, putting a smile upon her face.
"Eggs tend to do that before they hatch," the mother spoke without thinking about it. Her eyes grew wide, "It's hatching! Arceus, I'm not prepared yet."
"Yea! It's hatching," the kit did a backflip.
"No no no no…," the mother panicked, "I don't have anything for it to eat. "
"New baby! New baby!"
"Dimitree, please," the mother got around to calming her son down, "listen to your mother. Do you remember that trick that I taught you?"
"That clan destiny illusion, mama?"
"The clandestine illusion, Dimitree, yes," she stared deeply into his eyes, worried as the egg bounced again, "can you do it for me while I go get some food. Make it feel comfortable until I get back. "
"Sure mama," the kit smiled as he focused on creating the Illusion for his mother. She dashed out of their home before he was finished changing into a new form he's never seen before.
Tony now awoke in a bit of distress. His sense of gravity was fully restored. That would have been such a wonderful thing if he weren't standing on his head. That and the fact that he really needed to breath now. This also wouldn't have been much of an issue if only there were any air in there. Luckily, it only took one kick to crack the “ceiling” of his confinement. That seemed to be enough to allow the air to flow in.
That's when he heard noises coming from the outside. They were voices, they had to be. He tried to listen carefully, but they were too muffled. That's when a light poured in from the crack. Real light. It had been so long that he'd nearly forgotten what real light had looked like. Then the scent followed in after it. It smelled like… home.
That was not exactly what it was, no… Tony knew that, but the word "home" was the only way to describe it. He missed home. It had to be just right outside this… what is this thing he's been stuck in for the past few months? Tony kicked the roof of his confines once more, this time making very little leeway. A third kick did the trick as the lid finally snapped away. Then the light blinded him. He didn't know what happened next, but he was doing a headstand with his legs spread out as far as they could go. His arms fell limply onto the surprisingly soft ground.
"What the heck just happened," Tony tried to get his eyes to focus. He failed miserably at this. So instead, he lifted his legs up over himself to position and land on his back. As he fell, he felt something stab him ever so slightly in the tailbone. It was too late to change his course, so he was forced to land upon it and sent a shockwave straight up his spine. This went almost completely unnoticed as the blood in his head flowed back down his body, "Oh, my everything…"
"You…," Damian stood above Tony's face, "you can talk?"
"Yeah, I can talk…," Tony blinked, they were back in his bedroom, "how the heck am I still alive?"
"That's amazing," the human stated in awe, "it took me weeks to learn how to talk."
"What are you talking about," Tony tried to rub his head, but something didn't feel quite right. For starters, his hands were much bigger than they should have been. Also he had no thumbs. His eyes snapped open and all he could see was a light blue paw with pink paw pads. He had paws! Tony snapped up into the sitting position and just stared at his new appendages. He couldn't believe it. Then he saw his black pawed feet. He still couldn't believe it. He turned just as quickly and saw his tail. He still didn't believe it even when it moved.
"Holy…," Tony tried to examine his head as he spoke, "I'm a Riolu!"
"Riolu?"
"Yeah, Riolu. You know," Tony tried to stand up, "the pre-evolved form of Lucario. No wonder you didn't think that I could talk."
"That's not…"
"Why are you so big though," Tony wondered to himself, "where are we? And how did I get here?"
“Never mind,” Damian shook his head, crouching down to Tony, “you wanna go play?"
"Play? No, I want to know what the heck happened!"
"What happened?"
"I remember… that sword wanted to take me over so I…," Tony tried to think of it, but he didn't want to upset his friend, "I died… why am I a Riolu?"
"You didn't die, you were just born," Damian tilted his head at Tony.
"Damian… why are you acting so weird?"
"Why do yo keep calling me Damian?"
"Okay, who are you, really," Tony looked up and down 'Damian'. It was now that Tony could see a grey tail was wagging behind his friend, "I don't remember Damian having a tail."
"Mama calls me Dimitree," Dimitree sat down on the ground, "you're going to be my new baby brother. Kay?"
"Baby broth-oh, I get it," Tony looked around, "i've been stuck in place for so long that I've started hallucinating."
"Halu-what now?"
"This is all a dream," Tony nodded to himself, "which means I should be waking up right about now…"
Tony waited for a few moments, but nothing seemed to be happening, "wow, deep dream."
"So you want to stop dreaming now?"
Tony looked back at the fake Damian, "yes please…?"
"Okay," Dimitree backflipped into a shining ball of light. The entire world around Tony vaporized in a similar sparkling light and revealed themselves for what they truly were. Tony was still in a house, but the furniture was all wrong. It looked as if everything was dumped in a hole in the ground. The bed itself shifted into nothing more than a pile of leaves. His dressers disappeared as if they never existed. The doors changed into walls and the real doors appeared in other areas. When Dimitree landed he was now a Zorua with bright blue eyes.
"Oh my…," Tony tried not to freak out, "you're a Zorua! Now I know I must be dreaming!"
"No, you're awake now," Dimitree tilted his head again, his voice wasn't that much different than before. Maybe a bit higher pitched.
"Then you're a real Zorua? A talking Zorua?"
"I guess so," Dimitree raised an eyebrow.
"That's silly," Tony shook it off, "Hey, if I'm awake then why am I still a Riolu?"
"Because that's what you are," Dimitree stated more as a question than an answer.
"Sure I am," Tony rolled his eyes, still thinking that his new form was just an illusion, "and just how stupid do you think I am?"
"I don't know about stupid, but you are the weirdest baby I've ever seen."
"I am not a-," Tony stopped as his stomach complained, "man, I'm starved. It feels like I haven't eaten in a thousand years."
"Dimitree, I'm back with the…," Mama paused at the door, "what is this?"
"Mama," Dimitree ran up to his mother, but she shook her head.
"I thought you could uphold the Illusion much longer than this," Mama scooped up her child with her free hand. Tony was speechless. She was huge! She had to be three times his height at least! He always wanted to find a Zorua or a Zoroark, but these two where way too big. Which was all the more reason to think that this was all a dream. Still, the pains in his stomach told him otherwise.
"I did, but he told me to stop."
"Don't be silly. Baby's can't speak, Dimitree," the Zoroark laughed at her kit's wild imagination, before she turned to Tony, "So it was a Riolu Egg you found."
"I guess so, but he's a grouch."
"Hey! I…," Tony finally noticed the juice bottle that Mama was holding, for some reason it was all that he could think about as he licked his lips, "I… I…"
"That's because he hasn't eaten yet," Mama smiled at Tony, not in a mean sort of way that he always imagined Zoroark having. She seemed to give off this feeling that she meant no harm to him, like she really cared about his well being. That was weird for Tony to just know. Even as she spoke softly to him, "you hungry little one?"
Tony couldn't say a word, but he nodded profusely. She took up her new son in her arms and placed the bottle to his muzzle. Tony greedily grabbed it. He didn't exactly want to let her feed him, but he wasn't nearly strong enough to take it from Mama's claws even with both paws. The food really wasn't half bad either. It was a sweet berry juice that Tony had never tasted before, although he could barely taste it as quickly as he drank it.
"My, you were hungry," Mama smiled again, Tony couldn't answer between gulps, "You're certainly going to be a strong Pokémon some day."
Tony stopped just long enough to come up for air, "I'm a… Riolu?"
"Yes, you are," Mama smiled again, "and a smart one at that."
"Mama," Dimitree had climbed up on Mama's shoulder when Tony wasn't looking, "I'm hungry too."
"Dimitree you have plenty of berries waiting for you."
"But Mama!"
"Don't tell me that you're jealous of the baby," Mama rolled her eyes.
"You said that I was too big!"
"And being six months old you are," Mama cradled Tony ever so lightly. It wasn't much, but combined with a nearly full belly, it was enough for him to start down the road to dreamland, "Now let's go get some breakfast."
Not that far away (practically next door actually) a pair of Kecleon were getting ready to open up shop. They had another busy day coming up. They were just doing some final inventory.
"One forty-nine… One fifty… One fifty two, three, four…,," the normal Kecleon smiled to himself, "Yep, all the Gravel Rocks are here."
“Good work bro,” the shiny Kecleon stated as he polished one of their Apples, “all two hundred and six Apples are here too.”
“Now let’s go pick out today’s TMs,” the first closed the chest that they stored the virtually worthless stones. The pair then moved to the more secure locations of their shop. The safe was made of Dialga Steel, even these pair of powerful Pokémon couldn’t break in if they felt the need to. The only way in required the two tumblers to be turned at the exact same time each with two different combinations that only the pair knew by heart.
As they slowly accessed the area, a chest behind them shook. The two stopped turning the dials. The item in question wasn’t alive. It couldn’t have been. It was weeks since they had… “acquired” the item from Mellon and her kit weeks ago. It had to be their imagination.
They continued entering in their combination. The chest shook again with much more vigor and desperation. The pair couldn’t ignore it this time as a thin hand seeped it’s way out of the equally thin crack of the lid. Their eyes widened in shock as it’s voice seeped through.
“…where… Where am I?…,” the creature violently shook it’s confinement, “…must return!… Send me back!… Return me! NOOOooooowww……”
The pair ran out of their store screaming their heads off until they ran into their first early bird customers. One look at the team and the pair knew that they could get the help that they needed.
For free at that…
