It's been a while since I had posted a musical parody - as part of my "EFF" comic strip series - and I'd chosen an appropriate song to spoof (poking fun at the original composer and the performer who'd made said song famous).
A few months ago, I saw an HBO documentary called "Six By Sondheim", in which legendary Broadway songwriter Stephen Sondheim chose six of the favorite tunes he'd written for various Broadway musicals (such as "Send In The Clowns" from "A Little Night Music").
One of those six tunes I liked was "I'm Still Here" from "Follies" - the lyrics of which were easily adaptable to food and the 'fat furries' who consume it. And I had 'volunteered' one of
ScottC's characters - 'Tevy' - to sing my new lyrics (following a huge repast).
However, during the last few weeks, I underwent "artist's block" and refrained (no pun intended) from drawing this musical parody comic gag... Until earlier this week, when I had learned of the passing of legendary actress/singer Elaine Stritch (the person who'd made the song "I'm Still Here" famous) So, I got inspired again to draw this gag, in tribute to Ms. Stritch...

If you'd like to hear Elaine Stritch sing the original song just three years ago, watch this video.
She was a great woman, Rob, and she'd probably laugh out loud to see this. (lifts a glass of RC) To the great ones. May we someday see those even half as good performing. To the greats!

Well, you can still see Ms. Stritch on television reruns, from time to time. For example, she played Alec Baldwin's mother on "30 Rock" (a role that earned her an Emmy Award), and she also had a semi-regular role as a school teacher in later seasons of "The Cosby Show" (repeats of which currently air on TV Land)!
