I actually had time to do a picture And try out a new shading technique. Next week however, I won't be able to post another chapter. I can try, but something tells me that I'm going to be too busy. Darn school. Oh well… Like I said before, the actual origin story ended last time, but then the story kind of got away from me a bit. Of course I'm especially having a ton of fun with Rusty's character.
In case you didn't know this is the fifth chapter of the story Raider's Steel continuing from where this ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14019662/ ) left off. Also, while I don't do fetishes, but read the keywords for what may appear in the story.
So now please enjoy the next chapter and arc of Raider's Steel.
Ch. 5 Sanctuary (or How Raider Got His Name: part 1.)
Tony stretched his arms above his head. That was a great nap. He felt better than he had in years. (Or at least, as far as he could remember.) Was that dream real? It’s hard to tell considering the last few days he’s had. First, he was attacked and killed by a possessed sword. Then he was trapped in an egg for god knows how long. After which he was born as a Riolu to a Zoroark named Mellon and her Zorua kit, Dimitree. All leading up to finding out that he has another part of himself trapped in the same sword that had killed him.
Tony knew that he now has Myrin to thank for that. That Mr.Mime was always… always… Tony now realized something else about himself. He couldn’t remember much about Myrin’s training, or his own past for that matter. He remembered everything about that last day, but what about before then? He remembered the basics, of Pokémon training, but nothing too personal. He couldn’t remember any other human’s face besides Damian’s and his own.
“Welcome back to the world of the living,” a voice greeted him. The Riolu looked up to see the Grumpig with the glasses. What was his name again? Pobon right?
“Of course, considering your history that might be an understatement,” Pobon laughed quietly to himself. Tony didn’t know how to respond to this. He felt it better to keep up the baby act.
“Where Mama?”
“Mellon’s in the other room,” Pobon looked over to the doorway, “but I wanted to talk with you first, Human.”
“Who human,” Tony tilted his head.
“Drop the act,” Pobon frowned at Tony’s ignorance, “I’m a Psychic-type. I already know that you’re pretending. Not that I blame you for trying though… Don’t worry, I didn’t tell anyone else.”
“Okay, so you’ve got me,” Tony crossed his arms, “I am supposed to be human. What about it?”
“Honestly? I don’t know,” Pobon moved over to one of the tables and picked up the all too familiar baby bottle, “you don’t seem to be a bad person and humans becoming Pokémon is not as uncommon as you may think. I’d ask you how it happened, but I know for a fact that memory loss is typical of your particular situation.”
“Steel said that we,” Tony suddenly remembered, “Steel? Where is Steel?”
“Who? Oh, you mean the Honedge? Safely tucked away for your own safety,” Pobon frowned as he tossed the bottle to the young Pokémon to catch, “eat quickly to build up your strength.”
“So…,” Tony fiddled with the bottle for a moment, “what he was telling me was true?”
“You tell me,” Pobon sat down in a nearby chair, “He claims you’re both part of the same soul. Such a thing is hogwash in my opinion, but what he says seems to match up with what I observed while you two were… reconnecting. I’d much rather wager that he implanted his human memories into you when-”
“No, that part’s true. We are… were the same person at some point. Trust me on that,” Tony admitted between gulps of his meal, “I was asking about how much I’d have to eat and sleep now that I’m helping to keep him alive.”
“I suppose you would have to eat a bit more if…,” Pobon shook his head as if he felt himself going off track somehow, “You’re taking being in our world fairly well, human.”
“I have a name, you know. It’s Tony and well… I can’t go back anyway,” Tony stopped drinking, “no matter how much I want to. Everyone I knew’s dead by now.”
“Now what makes you say that?… um, Tony?”
“Apparently, it’s been centuries since I…,” whether the pig knew it or not, Tony didn’t want to admit to killing himself, “Since I wound up in that egg.”
“I wouldn’t be so sure,” Pobon adjusted his glasses, “Assuming the story you say is true is true… The two of you were found in a Mystery Dungeon, so it might not-”
“What’s a Mystery Dungeon? Dimitree mentioned them before, but he did tell me anything about them.”
“Well, what a Mystery Dungeon is… is a…,” Pobon tried to put it into words, but he just couldn’t, “well, a Mystery in itself. No one can figure out exactly what they are. We can only experience how they work.”
“What?”
“Let me try again,” Pobon thought harder, “there areas in our world where the laws of physics have changed entirely. They’re kind of like pocket dimensions where they’re easy to get into, but incredibly difficult to get out of without certain equipment.”
“So they’re like mazes?”
“Oh Arceus, if only they were that easy,” Pobon removed his glasses to rub his temples, “I mean some of them are, but… even the simple ones like in Pilot Forest have at least five Floors you have to navigate through and even then you’ll never have the same experience twice.”
“I see…,” Tony lied, “but what does it have to do with me?”
“Right, I’m getting off topic,” Pobon knocked his head a bit, “well one theory about why each area (we call them Floors, by the way) changes every time you visit it, is that they’re in a perpetual state of perceptual temporal displacement.”
“Perpetual state of what now?”
“Small words, right,” Pobon sighed, “time works differently while inside a Mystery Dungeon. What feels like weeks may only be a few hours, but a few minutes could be days. And the reason why all the Floors are constantly changing is because they all exist in different timelines and dimensions.”
“So you’re saying…,” Tony finally put it together, “that everyone I know may still be alive.”
“In theory, yes. Isn’t that what I just said?”
“That’s good… I guess,” Tony smiled before taking another swing of his juice, “still…”
“What is it?”
“I think it’d be better to assume that I’m never going home,” the Riolu frowned.
“How can you say that,” Pobon asked as he fiddled with his specs.
“Look, don’t get me wrong,” Tony stood up on the bed, “I’d give anything to go back just to see my parents and my friends again. It’s just that it wont do me any good to constantly focus on getting back to where I was.”
“That’s surprisingly mature for somebody your age,” Pobon’s eyes narrowed a bit.
“I’ve just been through a lot in life,” Tony got back to sucking from the bottle, he paused after a few more gulps, “Do I really have to drink like this? You know that I’m not really a baby.”
“Not exactly,” Pobon continued to stare at Tony, “Your mind may be older, but your body’s still young.”
“Yeah, I get why I don’t get any solid foods,” Tony pinched at the bottle’s rubbery top, “I meant why do I have to suck at this stupid nipple?”
“Because you might fall asleep at any moment,” Pobon’s stare intensified a bit, but Tony didn’t really notice, “don’t want berry juice to spill everywhere.”
“Steel’s not here to drain my energy, so why would I fall…,” Tony finally noticed what the Grumpig was trying to do, “what are you doing?”
“Whatever do you mean?”
“You think I can’t tell that your eyes are glowing,” Tony yelled, pointing at the bigger Pokémon, “so what? Are you trying to read my mind or something?”
“You don’t feel tired at all,” Pobon’s eyes stopped glowing, “that is unfortunate… my Hypnosis isn’t working.”
“Hypnosis…,” Tony growled, “just why would you want to put me to sleep?”
“I wasn’t going to do that,” Pobon raised to his feet, “If I was then I wouldn’t have bothered waiting for you to wake up.”
“What,” Tony took a step back, eyes watching the Psychic carefully. Not that it did any good. The Grumpig just used Psychic to lift the Riolu away from any surface he could kick away from. “Stop that. Put me down!”
“I’m sorry about this, but it’s dangerous for humans to exist in our world. Even if you exist only as a set of memories,” Pobon continued to frown as he took a few steps closer.
“What are you talking about,” Tony looked at the door, “Mama! Help Mama!”
“Mellon can’t hear us. She’s had a long day, worrying about you. Or at least, the baby you’re inside,” the Grumpig bonked Tony on the head, “so I put her into a deep sleep.”
Tony rubbed his new bruise, trying to think of who he could call. He could think of no one else. Dimitree was too young and who knows if Steel could do anything, “you’re no better than the last guy who messed with my head.”
“Listen, it’s for your own good to forget ever being human.”
“My own good,” Tony growled gripping his bottle as if he could use it as a makeshift club, “and just how would you know what’s for my own good?”
“Because… because it just is,” Pobon smacked Tony’s head again, “now let me in.”
Tony couldn’t respond with any retorts as his head throbbed. Pobon used this moment to try probing with his hypnotic commands. Tony could feel the pig trying to dig deeper into his mind, but it didn’t hurt nearly as much. He couldn’t let this pig decide his fate for him. He would not. And yet, he knew that he couldn’t stop him either.
‘I said let me in,’ Pobon mentally shouted into his brain. Still, the Riolu’s mind wouldn’t open to him. Tony defiantly glared at the Grumpig, He knew that the Grumpig was already inside his head, but nothing was happening. Something was stopping the trespasser’s meddling, but it wasn’t because of anything Tony was doing himself. The Riolu decided to divert the pig’s attention. Delay for as long as he could.
“Not until you tell me why,” Tony grunted.
“What would the point in doing that be,” Pobon moved the Riolu closer, but still out or reach, “especially when you’re going to forget everything, including this moment.”
Now was Tony’s chance, he squeezed the bottle… HARD. The acidic juice shot directly into the Grumpig’s eyes and he lost focus. Tony landed shakily on all fours, but made a mad dash for the door. He pulled it open barely enough before the Psychic had recovered. Tony foolishly decided to taunt back, “didn’t see that coming, now did ya!”
“Get back here,” the Grumpig tried to pull Tony with Psychic, but caught the door in his psychic grip instead. He yanked it right off it’s hinges and it flew right at him. Tony didn’t let this chance go to waste. He ran for it. He saw Mama resting near the door, but that would be the first place the pig would look for him. He went with his gut and took off down the same hallway he did before. Steel had to be there, along with those Kecleon. Tony could feel it.
Sure enough, the Kecleon were at their shop. They were surprised to see the Riolu instead of one of their regular guests. They hadn’t seen the baby since the day before. It was clear that he was looking for something after squeezing behind the counter.
“Hey there little guy,” the blue striped one smiled as he put away their latest earnings.
“Haven’t seen you for a while,” the red striped one looked around for Mellon or another guardian, “are you lost?”
Tony looked up at the pair, he tried his best to look cute, considering how exhausted he was. That’s when he got the idea of what he could do, “Seek, me hide?”
“Hide’n seek,” the red Kecleon gasped followed shortly by his brother.
“Ooh I remember when we used to play that,” the blue Kecleon smiled as widely as his brother.
“So you need a place to hide,” the red asked, watching as the Riolu nodded quickly, “well, you’ve come to the right place.”
“My brother and I are hide’n seek champions,” the pair stated as they vanished before Tony’s eyes save for their stripes. Tony looked around for where they disappeared to. It didn’t really surprise him, but he had to keep up the act. He purposely slipped past the floating zigzags and when slipped his way into one of the overturned barrels. He made a few grunts as he pretended to have trouble with asking, ‘where at?’
“Perhaps we made it too hard for him brother?”
“Nah, he’s a smart one, I can tell.”
Pobon ran by the room containing their store. It didn’t take a genius to realized that the Kecleon were not to be seen. They’d never abandon their post without a very good reason. He moved in to inquire, “Kecleon brothers, are you here?”
“Sure we are,” one stated from somewhere in the room.
“Bet you can’t find us,” stated the other from somewhere else.
“I don’t have time for this,” the Grumpig raised a hand and used Skill Swap, the light orb zipped it’s way around the room until it hit one of the invisible brothers. The blue striped one reappeared hanging from the ceiling with a look of extreme displeasure. He hopped his way down to the ground. He was even more unhappy to receive the Grumpig’s Thick Fat… Ability and girth.
“Hey, no fair,” he stated, “taking away my Color Swap ability like that should be against the rules.”
“Whatever,” Pobon looked around, “have you two seen Mellon’s Riolu?”
“No cheating,” the brother stated from his own hiding place.
“This is not a game,” Pobon marched to look for the little troublemaker, “I have to find him now.”
“We’re not telling you anything,” the fat Kecleon pointed over to the overturned barrels. The Grumpig nodded as he slowly made his way to where the kecleon had pointed.
“Come out come out where ever you are,” Pobon teased as he went to search the area. He was disappointed to find that not only had the Kecleon had pointed him in the wrong direction, but had disappeared again.
“Oh Come On,” Pobon shouted. He had to settle his nerves by rubbing his temples. This was all much more trouble than it was worth. The psychic came to a quick realization. He praised the former human under his breath as he continued his search.
“Oh, very clever, you little brat. You knew how much Kecleon naturally love to play Hide’n Seek. Well, I bet you didn’t see how your little plan could backfire, did you?”
The Grumpig focused on his new innate ability. It was harder to maintain than his real one, but he has used it at least once before, He easily disappeared himself save for his floating pearls, “So how are you going to hide from an invisible seeker?”
