I wonder if just making the wings see through and making the background a bunch of squiggly lines would speed things up. Do you know what i mean? That thing in some cartoons where the character's shirt will move but the texture and design of it is static? ...I'm gonna stop the crazy talk now. :>

Nono that's basically EXACTLY what I should do 'cus it'd be cool seen as they're magical in nature :3c Maybe keep the brands on the wings dynamic, but like, have the "filling" be all static and stuff, oh gosh why did I never think of that!
