Otters don't have short tails, good sir! It makes up a very significant portion of their overall length and weight!

As Lutris said, the otter's tail is long and it is rudder-like, not thumpy.

Holy smokes!! never put that power full of legs on an otter!! Maybe give an otter a pouch, long muzzle and tall ears.. but not the kickers.. they're just too hyper to take it.
