Been a while since I posted up a movie review and I've seen a few since my last movie review postings.
If you haven't seen the movie as yet, then stop reading as you might spoil it for yourself. If you don't plan on seeing it and wish to continue reading, be my guest. And before anyone asks, the price on the ticket stub is NOT in US Dollars.
The Expendables 3. I think that while the movie was okay, as in a shoot-'em-up-and-big-explosions okay, the whole premise on which the movie franchise is based on kinda sucked. I mean, with the first two installments of the Expendables movies, it's all about the old action movie stars kicking ass on the big screen. To me, that's the whole idea about the Expendables. And then the third installment comes around and you see Sylvester Stallone, cutting loose his old teammates cuz one of them got injured and so, not wanting to endanger them, he recruits a new team, a younger team, a group of young special ops, who are the best and brightest in their respective fields to some extent. They go on a mission to capture the main villain (played by Mel Gibson) and said members of this young team get captured and he (Sylvester Stallone) has to crawl back to his old teammates to go in and rescue the young'uns. That's the whole movie in a nutshell.
I will say this though, while there were so many old action stars on the big screen, they all had their moments. I especially enjoyed seeing Wesley Snipes' and Antonio Banderas' characters. And of course, Mel Gibson played the role of the bad guy beautifully, which was rather refreshing cuz most of the time he's the good guy so it was rather refreshing to see him play the role of the villain. And like I said earlier, lots of shooting, explosions and action sequences. Not much of a story here but it was an okay movie, just to unwind and re-live the classic action movie moments.
Did you see the Expendables 3? What did you think of it? Comment below and let me know. And check out my other movie reviews listed below.
