I don't have anything for you but I know where you can get some work if you know how to draw humans.

I'm not all that consistant on humans, certainly not classic straight/superhero style stuff, so it would have to be somewhat cartoony, and even then I'd be a weak candidate.

That wouldn't go for as much but there won't be to much compaction.

It's not actually all that bad, but considering some of what attracts attention at times, that is by no means the most "out there" request I've heard of. The worst part is that I'm now thinking about how I'd actually do something like that.

FurAffinity is populated by users who are mostly in their late teens, and early 20's. This means most decisions and interactions are fueled by an overabundance of hormones. What makes it worse is that this is the internet, meaning people can be as depraved as they like. Then, magnified by heard mentality. Everyone else is doing it, so that makes it OK.

In my own experience, teenagers and young adults can't afford to commission artists (they're the one's who bitch about having to pay for art and want free art.)

All (and I mean ALL) the commissions I get for the hard-core adult material are from older people (mid-30's up). They can afford to pay for it. The youngsters love porn, but won't pay the good money.

Since I lost my last job and had to start doing commissions full-time, I've done the gamut of things from WTF? porn to stuff so clean you could show it to your sainted mother. I've drawn things I never in a million years would've touched when I was gainfully employed. (I've done a large amount of stuff for a number of people I don't post.) But when it comes down to it, if you have a choice between paying your utilities and buying food, or sticking to an artistic high horse and refusing to do porn, most people choose the former. I have yet to see a furry artist sitting in a homeless shelter boasting that he turned down a $500 porn commission. The artists that can do that are the ones who don't have the threat of homelessness looming over them like a giant boulder.

And unless you're independently wealthy, don't ever, ever think it can't happen to you, no matter how good you have it now. Believe me.

I've paid for a lot of medical bills by drawing porn. Ain't no shame in it.

I think of all the issues of Albedo and other titles Our Host appeared in, during the dark days of the Pre-internet fandom, and then I see him post pics like this. It is heartbreaking.
It's like some great movie star doing shit parts in shit-ass TV shows or Z-rated pictures just to get the paycheck.

I couldn't help but think of Sean Connery and various other old-school actors, particularly the vaudevillians and stage-actors, who seem to turn up with some regularity in particularly awful and cheezy movies, and the fact that when asked why they were in such dogs, the response is very often a wry smile and shrug and "It was a gig."- sure you're one of the "godfathers" of the fandom, but the rent's gotta get paid!

Haven't forgotten about you. I've still some commission ideas I would love to have you do. Problem is, I've had to move twice in only a few weeks, meaning all projects been put on hold for a little.

I suppose we could talk about potential commissions for later, I'll just need to wrack my memory as to which ones to go with first...

Have you considered renting out a room in your house? I suspect you could have your pick of quiet, conscientious UW students desperate for someplace to live that isn't a frat house or an overcrowded tenement.

The current financial situation is simply my own temporary mis-management, not a basic lack of funds. I'm on a more or less fixed income, but didn't properly appreciate HOW fixed it was. Things will get better in time, but for right now I've got a short-fall to deal with.

Be glad you weren't approached by a young gay couple who wanted a particular pose drawn up, BUT you had to see how the pose was in complete detail, and HOPEFULLY you'd be part of a three-way.

Had that happen at FWA, the money would have been very good if I took it. But no, I'd rather go hungry , especially in that one case. I actually tried to draw it in the dealers room, but they kept refusing it and insisting I go upstairs with them. I chose to stay downstairs.

I've had people send me photographs of what they want drawn. If the government is spying on my email, they're sure going to get an eyeful with some of those!

If there is any way you can set up a webcam to stream, you can hook up with sites like Tigerdile, Picarto, or similar to do live streams of your art, take real time commissions, doodle stuff for donations, etc. It really does work. If you also chat with people, it increases your customer appeal and drives sales. I have had fantastic success with Tigerdile and it is a very much serious secondary income.

And it's fun.
