Despite the fact that Gill Grunt has a dreadful singing voice like all gillmen and showing baby pics of Blue Burn which ticked him off, he does care about his mother as he loves Blue dearly, and he is shown comforting him whenever he's having a bad time, like when when he was a baby, Gill would rock him to calm him down.

And as a kid, when Blue Burn got suspended from school due to the fact that the fly was pestering him, which made him lose his short temper and leave the classroom in flames while trying to destroy the fly, Gill Grunt would hug him.

And when Gill Grunt was pregnant with Glacier Belle, when Blue Burn failed to romance Whisper when she's already with Headshot which totally broke his heart, Gill hugged his crying son while soothing him with a melody, which sounded dreadful, and in which Blue didn't want to hear and wanted to let go, but continued to hug him in tears anyways.

Blue Burn could always rely on his brave mother who never gives up.
