"It just wouldn't be the holidays without a good fight... ”
A crisp breeze cut through the wolfcat as she adjusted her jacket, watching her breath linger in the air. Glancing up at the evening sky, Whisper watched as the patchy, grey sky began to fill with flurries, covering the snow that had already fallen earlier. As she examined the area, a small wooded park outside the city, she noticed any human or animal tracks that had previously wandered through the area were barely visible now. Even her footprints would soon be hard to detect- the perfect conditions for a “friendly” fight. She scoffed at a random thought that crossed her mind, before turning her attention to the sound of crunching snow in the distance that grew closer-she was finally here. A smile crossed Whisper’s muzzle as she sized up at the figure approaching her, “For a moment, I thought you had chickened…I mean, something might have happened or you changed your mind about doing this. I’m glad you made it…Jamie. I look forward to our little bout.”
Whisper proudly brandished her sword at her opponent. Many would say using a sword against an unarmed opponent wasn’t fair, but Whisper knew from the young lapine’s stature and fighting experience she’d be just fine. Not that it was a completely unfair fight; Whisper’s eyes glanced down at the holster attached to Jamie’s side: if she really wanted to use a weapon, she probably would in a heartbeat. And yet she chose not to…interesting indeed. As she silently eyed her opponent, Whisper wondered if she should have duel-wielded katanas instead of her broadsword to slightly increase her speed…but it was too late for second thoughts now.
“You sure you’re okay fighting me? Because I won’t hold back…” she couldn’t help but smirk as she said that knowing Jamie was probably just as eager as Whisper to have this little fight. Whisper had been eager to challenge Jamie ever since she watched her compete at a fighting tournament a few months back and taken out several strong adversaries, some of which were twice her size. Since that day, Whisper had done research on Jamie, wanting to learn everything she could about her and her background. All the while, Whisper worked on increasing her own workout routine and training until she felt she was ready to take her on. Finally, after what felt like forever, Whisper had managed to confront Jamie at a gym she frequented…and with several shocked bystanders looking on, challenged her to a match. Though what surprised Whisper was how willing the lapine seemed to be to accept her challenge without any hesitation or questions, leaving Whisper wondering what Jamie could possibly have in store for her. She could feel the adrenaline rushing through her body as she waited to get started; she just had to remind herself she couldn’t maim or kill Jamie…at least on purpose.
Quickly shifting her body, Whisper mocking swung the blade towards Jamie’s face, only to watch the lapine nonchalantly catch the tip of it with her hand. It took Whisper a moment to register what just happened. Had she finally found someone that was a worthy opponent? Or was that just luck…? Only one way to find out-

What better way to spend the holidays than two friends battling it out to see who's the strongest? Can you feel the love in the air? Hmm, I sure can...
This is just Whisper’s side of the story- I’m sure that "bunny” will have her own version. But we all know Whisper is the better fighter…and just plain awesome *ducks from the evil looks*
On a serious note, I am glad I got to do this for my friend and one of my favorite artists cylnx. A nontraditional Christmas gift I couldn’t resist surprising him with of our two chars about to have a battle on Christmas. Who is the stronger, better female? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see-
…what, you thought I was going to have them in some skimpy Christmas outfits or under some mistletoe teasing the hell out of the male population on here huh? Screw that crap!
And huge thanks to firetally for this awesome piece of art! She never ceases to amaze with me with her style, creativity, and having this piece done before Christmas- you rock!
