We continue our parade of drawings from
steamfox with this drawing from a favourite story of mine, "Knocking Down the Fares." (http://spontoon.rootoon.com/SPwKnock.html ).
This takes place early in the story, in the company cafeteria of the Ft. Bob United & Consoidated Public Service Co., a/k/a FUCuPS. We see three of the crew of the trolley "Bock's Car" sitting down to a suspiciously ornate breakfast. Clockwise from left: "Dutch," the motorman (boar, based on
Major Matt Mason), "Spike," the co-motorman (whitetail deer), and "Flash Harry" Kitson, the conductor (fox). They've been joined by The Old Man, essentially the commander of the employees (bear). He's just told Flash Harry that he has to take away the fox's subordinate to staff a car that he, The Old Man, is running that day. Flash Harry suspects, aloud, that something is brewing with the arch-rivals, the Krupmark Illuminating Company (a/k/a KILL).
Of note in the background is a possible self-caricature by
steamfox; there is, in fact, an Island Fox in the story, named "Bash," who runs the car-barn and is based in part on Roy.
This story is a combination of quasi-steampunk, quasi-1930s adventure yarn, and all those old World War II bomber movies you ever saw.
