I have only seen the first one, is the second one better than the first?

To me, I definitely think it's more creative, but it's given way for so many different theories, even to the point (and I believe this one) where FNAF 2 is based BEFORE FNAF 1. But in gameplay, I think it's a bit more difficult, but more fun, especially with the new Death Minigames, which confirms old theories about the deaths, and somewhat sheds light on new things that happen.
Definitely worth getting if you want another installment.
It's still a good laxative.

Yeah, but there's just not enough evidence to prove it. Yes, it looks like a phone in his hand, but knowing Cawthorn, he wouldn't make anything that obvious→ the Purple Man holding what appears to be a "telephone" is really most likely his hand. There's just nothing else to provide more evidence that the phone guy is the Purple Man.

What about the fact the purple guy has a badge like a security guard would have and is seen more often in the mini game things that Foxy is in?

I believe that there is a confirmed theory that the Purple Man is someone who worked there before. However, since Phone Guy worked after Jeremy from FNAF 2 (at least as far as I can remember, I haven't played FNAF 2 or read any of the new theories in a couple weeks. Do correct me if I'm wrong on this one), it may be him, but I doubt it. Also that since the employee who was the Purple Man had a day shift and not the night shift...
it's just so confusing. Probably will have to wait until FNAF 3 comes out sometime in the future to confirm any of these theories, cause Cawthorn isn't really active in explaining stuff.

If you play the custom night in FNAF2, the check is written to a different name (Fritz I believe), meaning you're not Jeremy in that night when everyone was supposed to be gone. Fritz still gets a call from the phone guy, so if Fritz is the purple guy, he's not the phone guy. He may have snuck in when the restaurant was closed down for investigation in order to tamper with the animatronics (what he gets fired for).
