Lisa's trying to explain to other merfoxes that everything in their culture was designed by earthlings who come to visit them years ago.
For her it explain pretty much anything, even the fact all mervixens wear french maid dresses, a gift from their god Jacques-Yves Cousteau, who was an ancient earthling actually, and eventually a pervert.
Lisa, the Giorgio A. Tsoukalos of merfoxes ;p The pose was an accident, but I was editing pics in front of the channel which broadcast Ancient Aliens here, and immediatly the relation with this pose and the "Aliens" meme did pop out in my head ^_^!

I've edited a version like this too, but I didn't want to put that one here as a submission as it was looking to much like the "Aliens" meme ;)
But I guess it's ok to put it in the comments, so here it is ;)

The reasons why the merfolk do actually talk to humans at all is in the distant past:
In former times ,the mating calls of mervixens drove lone male sailors to madness, until a shipload, headed by a guy named Odysseus, or Ulysses, depending on transcription, and his guys simply went and followed these yipping noises.
The resulting 10-year constant orgy they had, their PR-manager ( some guy named Homer, who's not related to the yellow guy working in the Springfield powerplant ) later reworked into some glorious contest of manhood - in a way, it had been, but none of them ever was endangered in their life - aside of infarct from pleasurable exhaustion.
Scylla and Charybdis, two buxom princeses of those ancient merfolk, were pretty angry about how they were depicted, and thus isolated the merfolk for centuries from surface contacts with humans, until humans met them deep under the sea again.
And as we see, that contact was a lot more positive, although also a lot more secretive in regards to the human side of things.

Now there's a new twist. I recall reading a few "Furry" stories in the early 2,000s which had "Mer-Vixens" featured in an underwater Kingdom of Mer-Creatures. Anyway, I was puzzled with the term "Earthlings" as I instantly associated it with "Martians" and other Space invadess, but after I thought about it, the term makes sense. After all the Dry Land and the Underwater worlds are so markedly different. In one story I read the Mer-Folk referred to those living on land as "Ground Pounders," or "Drybacks." Of course these terms were not enduring to the "Land Lubbers" anyway. So I...
Great Scott I'm babling again. I guess my mind has been taken over by Lisa's recombinant beauty.

Seen from the point of view of a mermaid it would have seem logical to me that they could see humans like we see aliens.
If you live really far away from the surface, there's highly no chance you have ever seen a human, and you will probably see a submarine like we see a UFO ;)
So it's why earthling sounds like the most appropriate word to me, as my joke around this picture was to made a reference to "Ancient Aliens" show and meme. But english isn't my native language, and I didn't knew about those mervixens stories, so I'm happy to learn about those expressions to describe humans seen by merpeople too ^_^

Yeah. I get the impression you most likely speak French, judging by the other comments above. Anyway, you gave me a wild idea for a comic story involving Mer-creatures who live in the depths, and rarely go to the surface. Suppose how they would react to a ship sinking into their realm? Would it be a blessing, or a curse?
Oui, elles sont tres belles ^_^ J'ai eu beaucoup de chances car Winfox ne prends pas de coms, mais je la connais depuis longtemps et elle m'a contacté quand elle a fait de la place chez elle :)
