I haven't had time in so long to paint something just for me. Even the holiday card was something planned that I do every year. I was visiting a friend and doodled this on some watercolor paper, and finally found time (or made time) to paint it. I have a minor cold right now, so I really needed something to do that I don't have to worry about messing up :D I suppose when I doodle I naturally go along similar subjects to Ritual or Ceremony.
The reason I uploaded such a small file is because the painting itself is only 5.5X7 inches. It's probably bigger on your screen than in real life.

Well, to be fair, a lot of Audubon's poses were VERY unnatural - they were based off of specimens, not "from life" and were meant to show morphology and (to a lesser extent) field marks.
This, on the other hand, looks like it WAS drawn from life - a classic Audubon pose without the major flaw. So yes, it was indeed meant as a compliment.

This is a magnificent piece! Such incredible color and detail on such a small format. <3 I'b bummed that this piece won't be available for sale. I missed out on a couple other pieces of yours at cons before and I've regretted it since. Some day.....:) <3
Yeah, finding time to do something for oneself is problematic. I've never none it before but I have one I wanna do, just gotta find/make time.
