Dies The Snow Lion - Page 12
Our three intrepid hunters (Bosh, Lilac, and D'gun) are off, searching for the rare antelope known as the chiru.
I'm working on some color character sheets so you can get a better idea of what the characters look like outside of the sumi-e greyscale style - Bosh is golden colored with white toes/fingertips, Lilac is 'blue' (kind of a weimaraner grey with tan accents), and D'gun is black and tan (rottweiler type color) - all natural colors of Tibetan mastiffs!
Also a reminder, my Patreon patrons get to see pages early! :)

Really? Well I thought the first pane of this page was great! It gives a really good sense of a vast landscape filled with rugged mountains and steppes.
And as always, great expressions! I hope we see a smile on D'gun eventually... big fluff dogs shouldn't be frowny all the time!

I'm not familiar with that, so not sure! They've been in popular media a few times, usually as the 'evil canine villains' since they are usually so huge and black. :> The dog in 'Man's Best Friend', a horror film some years back, was a TM - I think that's the first time I saw one on TV!

Some do! There are 'lion types' with more of a ruff/mane and 'tiger types' that have a bigger/broader head and overall size - there's a lot of variation in the current breed. Chinese Tibetan mastiffs, which are generally bred more for look than original purpose, tend to be much more fluffy. I've seen a few that have a genuine long mane, even longer than a lion's, it looks almost like the way a lot of anthro 'were' characters have mane/long hair. :) It's very neat!

Dies isn't actually a name, it's more a reference to the fall of Tibet as a superpower (and so dies...) - I think the name has confused a lot of people, though. :> D'gun means winter (referencing the time when he was born), Boshay means Amber (referencing his color), and Lilac's name will be explained later (it's not her actual name, but a name she chose for herself). All of the character names have some sort of meaning to them, and most are all Tibetan :)
