During the Great Crusade, the warriors of the Tenth Legion were to be known as the Iron Hands. Led by the uncompromising warlord Ferrus Manus, they became famous for their cold fury and remorseless strikes against the enemies of the Mankind. Though as their hides were wrought from true iron, their hearts were consumed by bitter self hatred. A hatred for flesh and the weakness it subjected them to. So it became every Legionnaires dream to ascend to a higher state of being by replacing parts of their flesh with pure iron, so they could someday be free from weakness and truly emulate their father primarch.

But as treason grew within the Astartes and heresy broke out, the Iron Hands were at the forefront to take a brunt of the assault in the infamous Drop Site Massacre of Istvaan V. Attacked from all sides, their primarch brought low by the treacherous blade of his brother, the Tenth legion was left scattered and leaderless. But the traitors of the Emperor made a mistake that day, for leaving the Sons of Medusa wounded, but not dead, was to invoke a colder fury in each one of them. The broken Legion didnt falter. From time and time again, the scattered warriors of the Iron Hands proved stalwart warriors throughout the Horus Heresy, visiting hatred like no other upon the Archtraitors forces.

To this day, the Iron Hands still continue their vengeful legacy, bringing cold justice upon the enemies of the Imperium with no remorse. They are the Iron. They are the sons of the Gorgon. They are the Iron Hands and they are vengeance incarnate.

WOOO! Finally got this piece done!
Dammit, I did need to finish like a dozen other pictures, but this is one which I got down to doing while in army service. I am pleased with it, to say the least. I have always adored the iconography and looks of the Iron Hands, a Space Marine legion most impressive in times of the Horus Heresy.
It was fun to do bits of armor and nearly crude mechanical adjustments to these guys. Every warrior is unique in a way, their heraldy displayed clearly on each ones armor and body. This let me go to town with them, not to mention drawing MK II Legion Astartes armor is damn fun! Of course these pieces are extremely modified to suit their users needs, but I think it only adds to the character. ~ Hope you like!
