Village of Thalamer was a prosperous one, its inhabitants numerous and defenses strong. Yet nothing could have prepared them for the trial ahead. Out of the horizon, a massive shape loomed, closing in at alarming rate. The bells tolled in alarm and streets filled with cries of terror, guards rushing to their posts as households barred their doors shut as if it would protect the families inside. The shape grew closer, leaving the guards at the walls awestruck as they gazed at the creature before them. A monster like from a childrens horror story, its size enough to crush the walls beneath its weight alone, horns crowning its head like a diabolic crown. A dragon. A terror from the skies.
Arrows traced through the skies in a vain attempt to slow the beasts advance. The devil creature beat its massive wings and a flame erupted from its mouth to hit the southern wall, the guards screams of pain drowned as the wall collapsed under their withering frames.
But then came a sound like the crack of thunder. The monster paused in its rampage and looked back, teeth bared in sudden rush of uncertainty. The voice wasnt a natural phenomenan. It was a daring, a cry of challenge. Men and women came out of their homes to gaze at the skies, their former terror eclipsed in a moment of awe. Everyone chanted the same words, the words that struck fear and hope to their hearts. "Blood in the eyes" .
The devil creature growled a challenge back as a form struck through the storm clouds, light glittering from it brightly enough to be mistaken as a flash of lightning. Then it was on the monster. The dragon reeled as a bolt of lightning struck its head, pieces of horns glittering through the sky as the newly arrived challenger soared past it, impossibly fast for something so large. It was a dragon like no other, a great serpent with mail of storm grey scales, maw crackling with barely harnessed power. The now wounded dragon barely had time to turn to face its attacker, before another bolt struck its body, forcing an anguished growl from its mouth. Beating its wings, it took flight to the sky and breathed a corona of flames at the grey serpent, but the creature easily dodged it, flaring its four great wings to skim past the devil creature and turn to breath another bolt of lightning over the great dragons back. It lurched from it and fell down, blasting flames everywhere in panick before an ear deafening pitched noise filled the air and a flash of light struck out from the grey serpent, impacting the wounded dragons head with force enough to shatter it in a storm of blood. The villagers of Thalamer watched as their attacker flopped down dead, the ground stained with blood and fragments of bone.
The grey serpent landed near it and folded its wings, regarding the now deceased foe for a second, before turning to look at the villagers. The gates opened and men and women poured out, clutching bags with teary eyes. Many tried to look at the serpents eyes, only to be greeted with red lined white orbs that held neither hostility nor compassion. The villagers laid the bags down, while some opened them, revealing glittering jewelry, brass and copper. Some clutched their belongings relucantly, before handing them down, remembering what had saved their and their loved ones lives. The serpent paid no heed, only scooping the jewelry in its mouth, before beating its wings to take flight with dazzling speed, disappearing to the sky as fast as it had first appeared.
The life of the villagers of Thalamer returned to normal, though the anticipation of new attackers clawed at their hearts. Yet, they knew that by their tribute, their prosperity would be safe guarded for the near future. "Blood in the eyes", like the great serpents red lined eyes. Their unlikely savior, Sylv'ur'kzen . The Spirit of Thunder.

Mnh, army time really does suck, but at least it gives me time to listen to some excellent music and draw pictures.
This one is something I have been thinking for a looooong time. It originally started from the thought that my sona is a bit... durdly and soft. Not that I like it, I LOVE IT, but its not the most fearsome thing. So I wanted to make an "realistic" version, a dragon to represent a true thunder dragon of the north. So was this picture born! Special thanks to Wizards of the Coast for releasing the inspiring Fate Reforged MTG set, with Kolaghan, the Storms Fury providing inspiration and guidance for me to start and finish this~ ! picture!http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20150107180417/gamelore/images/e/e5/Kolaghan,_the_Storm's_Fury.jpg
Now the true drive to finish this picture comes from the excellent Death/Folk Metal band, Equilibrium! Mainly songs like "Blut im Auge" and "Mana", with their heavy beats, coupled with piercing vocals and shiveringly awesome melodic moments. I really do recommend listening to these songs, especially "Blut im Auge", if you are not turned off by harsh lyrics. "Mana" is purely instrumental and a pure joy to listen while working, albeit 16 minutes long!

Thought you wouldn't have time to draw anything due to army. Glad to see you are back ^_^b
Free time in army is scarce, but plentiful when allowed. I get my time to let my imagination run free ~ :3
