Hehe, well, we actually discussed that when we wrote this bit! Basically, Alex runs the risk of 1) hitting debris on the way down and slicing himself in half, which is pretty uncool, 2) breaking something when the line hits the end of slack (it's bungee cord but who knows what you're gonna hit on the snapback), 3) choking to death (which ACTUALLY HAPPENS and it's super awful).

Yah, it was actually something I learned also during SAR work. You don't want to hang in those, that's not what they're designed for. :( Sounds really crazy, but they're designed to keep you from falling to death, but not for staying hanging in for a while. :(

Yeah, makes sense. There are other harnesses for that, and even then it's best not to be in them for longer than you need to be. Danger lurks everywhere, even if it's just an unfortunate change in the weather, and you don't want to be hanging around (sorry for the pun) when things take a turn for the worse!
