Luzza entering a state called "Spellwild."
As I see it, MP are not a physical reserve of energy, but a mental barrier. Rather than expending, here, if you overexert, you eventually lose control and enter a state called spellwild, where you will rapid fire spells off until you physically burn yourself out.
Luzza, however, is different. She retains a modicum of control in spellwild (differentiating between friends and foes, at least) and, more importantly, will exit the state after a short time, rather than killing herself in it. As for why...well that is a mystery to be solved later...
