Well, by technicality, in our day and age, we dont think so racially flared ways anymore, and this game speaks so truly of how bad things were back then... how blacks and irish were treated back then, still. It creeped me out, because I've never actually treated any brother like that, never thought to hurt someone just because of their skin colour, demean them... sure, nationally I'm guilty of making some hurtful things, like North Korea and China and well... Mexico as a whole being shitholes of humanity... But I'd never have stuff like their raffle...
Yes, but that's also what I really like about that game. It's often so pretty and colorful-until you really get to know the city. And I think it's a topic that's still very accurate today in many countries and societies. I love how fantasy and harsh political reality are mixed in it. (and it's just beyond creepy)
And besides that the gameplay is nice, of course! (I'm normally not into first person shooters, but because of the interaction between the characters and environment, I really like this one)

Actually, only a few people are trying to bring back the Racial issues, as they HAD been dead for some decades since the late 60s. Once people got used to the whole "Black and irish in MY CHILDRENS' SCHOOLS!?!?" they adapted and grew to love those people, just like I would do my best to protect children if I could help it, if I ever see someone getting bullied, I would bull rush the bullying fuckers. In fact, in every play through of the game, I could NEVER bring myself to hit the couple at the Raffle... EVERY playthrough, no matter what else I changed, that was the only thing I never changed in my ways.
I'm not so familiar with the current situation in the States (I live in Europe and so now and then those issues are on tv), but I've heard pretty bad things about it.
I agree with that part of the play through :') I always get conscience issues in games, haha. (that's also why I can't get myself to finish Infamous as evil!delsin and such)

If I remember right, DISNEY channels made a GREAT movie based in the late sixties, where a white teen, from Southern Africa, used to the abuse of Black Africans by Whites in the same way as in the game, verbally abusing them, and telling them how wrong theyve done their job... but then she comes to America as an Exchange student... to live with a Black family, in a decent part of America, and the family's parents have good jobs, and they make sure she gets what she needs, to do her classes and more, and make sure she isn't abused, but loved. A similar scene where a black server messes up and she expects the same reaction as she had witnessed in Africa, but rather the white gentleman said it was "OK" and the black guy was only embarrassed at having messed up, and not too publicly abused at all. It showed and even helped me to understand the situation of skin colour events that had happened. Several times though, white beaureacrats tried to take her from her exchange family, "fearing for her safety" in a Black neighborhood and with a black family. Later on she went back and I guess they tried to tie her into history, helping to change South Africa's racialisms. Was a good movie, but I still dont remember most of it beyond what points they were trying to pass along, being over a decade since that movie was on TV, for well over a week, and watching it quite a few times... hah.
