took a break from work to draw a Wanderer pic !!
this one takes place during the 2nd period, which the Photographer's Legacy called 'nansdeitz'.
there's six periods in the documented life of the Wanderer
the seventh one is undocumented by the Legacy, when the last of the line finally died. it takes place after the tectonic plates ceased moving, causing the atmosphere to slowly dissipate. the Wanderer eventually died while sitting under the remains of Tree of Ténéré. (in the Wanderer's universe, the tree was never knocked over by some drunk pinhead)

too much dune?
NO SUCH THING
although, in my defense, until mere years ago, I thought the Dune movie and Labyrinth were one and the same thing :V
STING ≠ BOWIE K SRY
but yeah seriously, get with some specialized layout-ist and maybe some letterers *waves arm fanatically* and you could totally turn the Wanderer into some hardcore darkhorse-caliber legacy anthology shit
also, just read Watchers, and now my head's all like WOAH COMICS R AWSOME

Man, if you ever make a frame-able print of this - or any of The Wanderer series, for that matter - do let me know. This one in particular grabbed me; I adore abandoned/destroyed architecture, spend as often as I can photographing things like that... this one just screams to be hung on the wall.
"Tree of Ténéré. (in the Wanderer's universe, the tree was never knocked over by some drunk pinhead) "
hahhahahahahha I only noticed this now
I was like on my head "hold on the tree was ran over by a drunk driver in the 70's"
that tree was the only sight of vegetation in like a good part of the desert

It was already messed up when the Libyan driver ran against it.
And the mental image of him actually going to where the tree is now is amusing since he's going to have to find the cage, get some wirecutters from the postpostpostapocalyptic land and then enter the place
me thinks he'd be better off sending a distress signal and hoping some bizarre AI or civilization picks his corpse up so that they resuscitate his ass and he can have xenoarcheologic adventures since his noggin must be filled with all sorts of info

thanks man! that's pretty much the gist of the wanderer, no more civilization because a some disease that kills 95% of newborns, but also lets a couple people live basically forever. also some wars happened. and then there were the military satellites that went out of control, they regularly pummelled the earth with EMPs, so no technology could really work for a long time, up until the end of the first period.
man i'm a nerd!! haha

I adore the contrast, but I also like the subdued green in the sky. It gives the appearance of a really bright day, so the strong shading colour makes sense. He seems to have lived quite a bleak existence, but it’s been illustrated in a really striking and awesome way, so it kind of balances out(?). :V
