Chapter 14
“David?” asked Casper in tentative hesitation.
The boy didn’t reply. His head remained buried between his arms on the table.
The Butterfree glanced back at the other Pokémon for assistance. They gave him none other than gestures to proceed.
The bug-type Pokémon sighed softly. “David? Can we talk?”
The boy grunted, but didn’t say anything.
“Losing a friend so soon is disheartening,” murmured the butterfly softly. “We’re all upset about it too, but you need to talk to someone. You can’t take this onto yourself. It’s not your fault. It could have happened to any of us.”
When the Butterfree got no further replies from the boy, he fluttered back to the table the other Pokémon were sitting at.
“I don’t know what to do,” said Casper in dejected spirits. “He won’t reply to any of us and he barely eats anything anymore.”
“It’s been five days since we lost Felix,” said Fredric slowly. “My every attempt to snap him out of it has failed … and I’ve known him the longest. I believe he feels he’s betrayed us.”
“I don’ understan’ how he’s supposed ter be a good trainer if he doesn’ train,” grumbled Spike with his arms crossed.
“Pipe down pint-sized!” snapped Flint. “You weren’t there. He’s an inexperienced trainer who grows connected to us very easily. He was getting very attached to Felix. We never expected the Riolu to have Counter and we paid for it.”
“Wow,” remarked Spike. “You almos’ sound like real Pokémon.”
“There’s a time for sass and naughtiness and this isn’t it!” growled Flint.
“Enough,” said Fredric as he placed himself between the glaring Pokémon. “Nurse Joy has sent Felix to Geosenge to be buried with the ancient warriors on Route 10 who fought to make Kalos a safe, beautiful place for us today. I will not be having you two add anyone else to it!”
“Shut it!” snapped Casper as he whirled towards them and swept his wings in their direction. Silvery mist rolled off his wings and covered the Pokémon on the table. “Stop fighting now!”
Spike was the first engulfed. His eyes rolled back as he retracted his limbs into his shell and began snoring. Timmie hopped off the table as the fox and bird were covered as well. Both Fredric and Flint joined Spike in slumber.
“Humpth,” grunted Casper as he turned back towards where David was sulking. “I wish he wouldn’t shut us all out! We can’t even use the PC to get Wenona out here to help. Or Brylie. They would know what to do. This team of males is useless when it comes to consoling a friend who has lost someone special.”
Timmie hopped back onto the table when the Butterfree had finished ranting. He still appeared edgy as he kept shifting his stance and his hands.
“Maybe he needs a female human to talk to him?” asked the small frog as though he was expecting to be yelled at for providing his opinion.
Casper’s wings and antennae drooped. “I guess you’re right.”
“Oh my!” exclaimed Nurse Joy as she walked up behind them and examined the sleeping Pokémon. “I guess you guys are taking this as badly as David is too. Poor boy. It’s hard to lose a Pokémon, especially so soon in his adventure. Maybe I should call his mother. The last time I mentioned it, the look in his eyes told me that would only make things worse. I guess he needs a friend to help.”
“Yeah,” agreed Casper quietly as the nurse walked away from them. He didn’t expect her to reply. “I guess we can only wait for him to eventually get over this. I hope he does soon … I miss my buddy.”

This is a Fanfiction featuring the Wonderlocke mechanic under my own rules.
Talon's Rules
1. All Pokemon (with maybe the exception of your starter if you so wish) must have been obtained within a Wonder Trade upon starting the game.
2. You have six slots in your party. You must have three pokemon you can interchange per slot. Pokemon from the same group slot can never be in your party at the same time. Only one per group slot at a time. You will have a grand total of eighteen pokemon as part of your team.
3. If a Pokemon should faint, it is considered "DEAD" and must be either released or placed in the PC. Once all three pokemon from a group slot have fainted, you can only use five pokemon at a time.
4. No buying items (with the exception of the Poke Balls used to aid you in your Wonder Trade). All items are found in the region (or if you are super lucky, you may be able to rely on a pokemon whose ability is Pick Up as I have).
I do not own any characters that may coincide with characters from the games.
