That and it's a fresh batch of collodion, it will get less contrasty and get better tonality with age.

Yeah, Poor Boy no ether, no cadmium. not as bright as some formulas, but it has a good shelf life . II you let it ripen for at least three weeks you'll get pretty good tone. This batch is about a week old.

I'd love to pick your brain about using no ether sometime, it scares me much more than the KCN (AKA the chemical that shall not be named)

Silver has never been cheaper. Artcraft chemicals has everything you need for the basics. Pickup some Ilford rapid fix and you're ready to go.

Yeah the precious metals collapse is another impetus. I've got a big canister of KCN, inside another canister, inside yet another canister just beckoning to be made into lovely pictures.

One other annoying question, once you have your collodion mixed, how do you store it?

Clear glass bottles. Anything with a plastic screw cap. I prefer clear glass because I can monitor the color and see any particulates that may form.

if you mix your ether with alcohol right off the bat then you minimize the chance of peroxides forming.
