Chapter 17
“Wait up!” yelped David as he dashed after Brylie with the rest of the team trailing behind. “I can’t have you getting us all into trouble again!”
“We need to set some kind of tracker on her,” grumbled Fredric. “That or, do we have any Psychic-types on this team?”
“Besides your final evolution?” yelled David back as he struggled to keep the Bunnelby’s tail in sight. “Ian. He’s an Inkay. He’s on your red team and I wasn’t planning on training him until after defeating the first gym. Dark and Psychic isn’t good against Bug.”
“She moves too fast,” muttered Timmie as he began falling behind.
“Here,” said David swiftly as he turned back. “Fredric, Casper, keep on her tail and don’t let her get out of your sight. It looks like she’s headed towards Route 22. We’ll meet up and continue training there.”
“Right,” agreed the Butterfree as they continued chase.
“Wait for me, you love-bug!” exclaimed Flint as the fire bird flew off David’s head and after Casper.
David rolled his eyes as he reached Timmie and Spike and picked them both up under each arm.
“Hey!” exclaimed the tiny turtle in irritation. “Put the Spike Master down! I can run on me own!”
“Not as fast as a Bunnelby apparently,” muttered David as the boy ran off in the direction of the other Pokémon. “It was hard catching up to her the first time. This time she has a head start!”
“Thanks,” muttered the Froakie almost too soft for the boy to hear.
“If ye going ter be carry me, stop jostlin’ me!” yelled the Squirtle. “I can’ be losin’ me eyepiece!”
“Squirming is only going to make things worse,” grunted David as they reached the outskirts of the town and passed in front of a large gold building with a green roof.
“Fine,” grumbled Spike as he stopped moving and just let himself hang limp in the boy’s arms. “Catch that rabbit.”
The boy reached the city walls and turned the corner quickly as he entered Détourner Way. He didn’t even manage to make three steps before his foot hit something round and gave way beneath him. His weight pitched backwards and the Pokémon in his arms got tossed into the air as he hit the ground on his back.
Timmie managed to get his feet beneath him and cling to the side of a nearby tree. Spike swiftly tucked his limbs into his shell as he fell. David experienced sudden pain as the turtle’s shell landed on a tender area between his legs.
With a groan, the boy pushed the Squirtle off of him and rolled over on the ground while clutching his hands at the area in pain. He was met by raucous laughter as Brylie fell out of a patch of grass with her paws and ears held around her stomach.
“Not … funny …” David managed to groan in a voice an octave too high.
“That plot … went better than … I ever could have planned!” yelped the rabbit amid laughing.
“I almos’ los’ me eyepiece!” growled Spike while springing out of his shell to confront the bunny. “Don’ ever do that again!”
“No promises,” said the Bunnelby as her mirth continued.
“David!” exclaimed Fredric as the fire fox left the tall grass behind and ran up to his trainer. Timmie hopped out of the tree and landed beside Spike. “Are you alright? What happened?”
“Brylie happened,” grumbled David as he painfully got to his feet with the Braixen’s help.
“It was perfect!” exclaimed the Bunnelby in overwhelmed joy.
“She made me end up somewhere disgusting!” snapped Spike in irritation. “I know I’m naughty by nature, but I’m not THAT kind of naughty!”
“She planted a Poké Ball in his path and caused him to trip on it,” said Timmie in hesitation. When no one stopped him from speaking, he continued. “It caused him to accidentally throw us into the air and Spike sort of hit him. It looked painful.”
“It’s still painful,” muttered the boy through gritted teeth.
“I’m sorry for losing her,” said Fredric softly. “She gave me the slip when she entered the tall grass.”
David nodded. “I can see that. You are a bit taller after all. What about Casper and Flint?”
“Sand Attack,” grumbled the Butterfree as he flew over to them with the bird following closely behind. “My Compound Eyes ability helps against it slightly, but it affected Flint more.”
“I don’t like that rabbit,” grumbled the fire bird darkly. “She takes cheap shots.”
“Well, now,” said Brylie happily. “You should be thanking me. I got us all out here for some training faster than you would have been and that’s not even the best part.”
David shared glances with Fredric and Casper.
“I’m afraid to ask,” muttered the boy.
A loud yelp sounded from somewhere deeper in the route and a girl came tumbling out of the grass ahead of them. She landed on the ground at his feet and a Pokédex landed alongside her.
“I found us a trainer to battle,” snickered the Bunnelby with an impish grin.

Talon's Rules
1. All Pokemon (with maybe the exception of your starter if you so wish) must have been obtained within a Wonder Trade upon starting the game.
2. You have six slots in your party. You must have three pokemon you can interchange per slot. Pokemon from the same group slot can never be in your party at the same time. Only one per group slot at a time. You will have a grand total of eighteen pokemon as part of your team.
3. If a Pokemon should faint, it is considered "DEAD" and must be either released or placed in the PC. Once all three pokemon from a group slot have fainted, you can only use five pokemon at a time.
4. No buying items (with the exception of the Poke Balls used to aid you in your Wonder Trade). All items are found in the region (or if you are super lucky, you may be able to rely on a pokemon whose ability is Pick Up as I have).
I do not own any characters that may coincide with characters from the games.
