I was doodling with one of those Palomino "Blackwing" 602 pencils on Canson "Biggie" Sketch paper and these Mongoose "Ip-Chee" characters fell out. I kind of like the results I'm getting with the pencil, but despite spraying workable fixative between adding new pencil lines I still get some smudging. I'll keep practicing though as I find pencils a much easier media to work with. Also remember, when enjoying scorpions, always bite the stinger off first.

Smudging is one of the reasons many artists have gone to colored pencils. Prismacolor Colorerase pencils work well in many colors, and if you want mechanical leads, Pilot has .7 mm leads affordable from jetpens.com. It's their Eno Color line and is my favorite. I like the blue and purple leads best. They don't smudge and still can be erased. You can see my gallery to see the results, or visit my art stream.
You know? I ought to dust off the "Artist and Muse" comic story line where "Art" has to seek the aid of a morphical mongoose named "Rick" who runs "Rikki-Tikki's Tavern" on Hamlin street in downtown Mills Harbor. Any excuse to draw more of the gang of "Ninja" Meerkats is a good one.
