11" x 14" graphite sketch
Totally rough and smudged but I kinda like it so far.
Gonna try my own hand at a graphite tigress and I've been wanting to do something 'Art Nouveau' for a while. So here's something heavily influenced by Mucha of course.
Used a lot of his classic elements, though put together a bit differently than anything he did. A bit hap hazard and cluttered and I still have the upper background detail to put in.
burd is roughly based on the greater bird of paradise + topknot.
So anyway, I am currently blind to what may be going on and need some fresh eyes look it over and comment. This of course is just the initial sketch that will go on the light box for transferring to the final bristol.
This is gonna be a labor of love!
Comments and critiques very welcome.

Her right leg... it could certainly be fixed with shading, but it seems to have a strange curve to it.
It's hard to place... the points at which it bends are hard to find. That's what it is.
Could definitely just be the shading.
Maybe I look too closely.
Anyways, I love it so far. I really appreciate the classical style. I like the way the details of the environment, the hair, the plants, the feathers, the background, direct your glances to keep you locked on the image.
Stunning so far. I can't wait to see how it turns out!

I think it super, but I'm not an artist so I won't lose sleep over it.
Cats. Burds. It's a 'thing'. In a parallel-universe story I've been working on forever (as in pre-Y2K, anyway), most of the Felines use kinds of burds for surnames. The Scottish Wildcat who founded a line of motorcars more than a century ago was named Drake. The world's greatest physicist was named Falconer; a racing accident confined him to a wheelchair. Most motorcycles are built by Dove.

Your poses are always so elegant! Paired with the Art Nouveau style, flowing lines, pose, and attire, this is shaping up wonderfully. Even your sketches have a strong sense of depth and a convincing atmosphere. If you're looking for feedback, may I recommend adding some sort of ornamentation to the top panels? Simple sounds nice, in my opinion :) Kudos for working the design elements off-center. It works so much better than the cliche centered image and makes for an overall more interesting composition.
I look forward to seeing this progress!

Thanks! I've reworked some of the anatomy and added some of the basic background design elements and I'm about ready to start transferring the lines to the bristol. Gonna have to dig out the rest of my pencils as I haven't used them for a while. I would have been well into the final drawing by now but when I got up this morning, I started writing a short story to go with this piece. I didn't mean to have a story go with it but it just happens sometimes whether I want it or not. It's going to probably be about 2000 words and I'm over half way there now. Still writing but I think I'll throw the sketch and bristol on the light board in a bit and get the real ball rolling. :)
XD Thank you! Yeah, I've loved art nouveau for as long as I can remember and have been threatening myself to do some for a long time. So I threw this rough concept piece together over a couple days and have been working on the real thing for a week now. Could have her done by the end of this weekend. I haven't used graphite for more than the initial sketch work for almost 3 years and had to learn much all over again and stuff I hadn't ever known. and I only have a 2H, HB, and 6B. to work with. :)
Needless to say, I'm having a heck of a lot of fun!
