I made it through A-level maths, barely. That includes an introduction to calculus, but only an introduction. Such things as the del operator, partial derivatives and the fearsome laplacian are kept for university.

I can't even say I know where to start to solve this... And don't worry in other countries we don't use everything we learn in our collage level courses. I also what to ask what your studying for. I don't know what the south Korean educational system is like. In the US for most places we do take some generals but for the most part we study thing that are only necessary for what our majors are.

this is giving me flash backs of having to take differential equations again. Man I did not like that class, but now that I have my degree I don't think I'll ever have to do any of that ever again :P

I think it's just forgettable because a lot of that high level math can easily (and often necessarily) be solved by purely pragmatic means, even in some engineering practices.

Differential Equation is still way way much better for me. at least, i can follow it what's going on. but, Elecromagnetism? ...nope!

Lime, this is not electromagnetism, this is a thinly veiled math exercise for math nerds; don't use a stupid electric engineering book to study, look for a rigorous, and hopefully fun, math book to learn. You will get much farther.

(PS: in my experience, engineering books SUCK. Instead of having mathematical rigor and conceptual clarity, these books lack both.)

my guess is on the off chance it ever did become practical I'd at least know where to start. kind of what they describe as "resurgence" in psychology.

Teaching students how to investigate and how to teach themselves would be a much better use of the same time.
