The (Literal) Rise and Fall of Leo Nekozuki
Mascots4Kids Event - Furry Circus School 2015
If a dragon like
can fly, then so can this ninja lion!
I've wanted to try this trick last year, but I wasn't picked; only a select few got to go that time.
This however, I got my chance! Now depending who was going up there, instructor Yublie gave the participant specific instructions and guidelines about what they had to do in the stunt. Some were given the chance to fly like Superman (which was what I wanted to try); some were told to land on the mat; and some were given the chance to try a backflip. In my case, all I had to do was fly in the air a bit and land on the mat (perhaps a Superman stunt shall be in order next year? ).
It seemed intimidating going up there, but I was undeterred as long as I had those trusty safety cables and Yublie's rope guidance. I grabbed onto the trapeze bar, and while roaring "KUMBAYAH, MY LORD" (it was
who gave me the idea for the battle cry), I began my swinging in the air which was so much fun! And then upon the exact command of "let go," I released my grip from the bar and kept looking forward with confidence as I made my guided but abnormally fast descent.
My thought process at the time: "as long as I hit the mat and nowhere else, I should be fine."
Though it wasn't exactly captured with these photos, it turned out that I juuuust missed the mat and crashed heel-first onto the hard floor with half of my backside barely hitting the mat. It seemed it was partly due to Yublie accidentally handling the rope so that I'd overshoot my mark (I, however, don't blame him in the slightest as it's difficult even for stunt coordinators to help along the way). Every suiter and spotter present heard the loud bang and collectively winced feeling my pain.
And despite that, I just as quickly stood back up un-phased and was kicking tail in other stunts just a few moments later. Why? Because I can.
Again, I'm a lion; I'm a big cat. I always land on my feet.
This event took place on April 11th of this year and was organised by

Photo taken by my Mom (a non-furry) whom I thank deeply for spending time to take photos of me and everyone else at the event. And go easy on her if these photos seem off; she's an honest novice, and she tried her best. lol
