The real reason is that I got the name Rossweisse from Wagnerian opera, and decided later she should have a real Old Norse Valkyrie name too, but by that time the story was already going, and if Theodora can't say "Rossweisse", there's no way she's going to even be able to get close to saying "Rathgrith" (not to mention the trouble readers would have).
In the story it's because it's "Rathgrith" is her hard-core formal Valkyrie name and "Rossweisse" is what she normally goes by.
"Rathgrith" is sometimes translated as "Plan-Destroyer", someone who ruins the enemies plans.
"Rossweisse" ="Horse White" ;someone who rides a white horse (Rossweisse's emblem is a white horse)
