Didn't realize how much this one would make me cry. I've been a huge Star Trek fan since I was a little kid. I love Trek so much. This is my tribute to one of the most beautiful vessels in all the known universe.
By the way-here's the original theme by Alexander Courage with lyrics by Gene Roddenberry
Beyond
The rim of the star-light
My love
Is wand'ring in star-flight
I know
He'll find in star-clustered reaches
Love,
Strange love a star woman teaches.
I know
His journey ends never
His star trek
Will go on forever.
But tell him
While he wanders his starry sea
Remember, remember me.

When I saw the tile, I was hoping it meant the enterprise from star trek, and I was right! I loved it, and I think this just made my day. BTW, the line where it says "diversity in all it's infinite combinations", that's based on Gene Roddenberry's words, "The glory of creation is in it's infinite diversity", right?. I should know, considering it's my favourite quote, as you'll see on my page. Anyway, again great poem and I can see you did you research.
Well it might be. When I wrote it I was thinking of the Vulcan ideology of IDIC. I've been a huge Trek fan for the last 38 or so years-ever since my aunt started letting me watch reruns with her when I was two. She was one of the folks who helped write letters to the studio in order to keep TOS on the air another season.
TOS is what Star Trek:The Original Series is referred to and IDIC means Infinite diversity in infinite combinations. Vulcan logic dictates that differences are good and should be celebrated. Learning about people and things who are different increases knowledge of both the universe and ones self. It's why it's one of their species guiding principles.
