Roll back the rock to the dawn of time and sing this song with meee
/Watches the Jurassic Park Trilogy in the background perpetually until June 11th.
I adore dinosaurs, and I adore minerology/gemology. And obscene amounts of rainbows and obv black and white stripes S-SSSOOO YEEEAAHH.
THIS HAPPENED.
A huge part of me has the almost uncontrollable urge to draw this dino with Scorgisaur/Splash's Retro- BUT GOTTA FIND OUT IF THAT'S OKAY FIRST. Also can't take that project on until later when I'm making serious dents in this comm list.
But this is Arcoiris. Or 'Ark' for short, probably going to be genderfluid AF but I'm calling her a 'her' for now. Her stones are:
Opal (Eyes, bones),
Moonstone (teeth, Claws)
Garnet,
Carnelian,
Bushman red cascade quartz,
Tangerine quartz,
Citrine,
Sulfur,
Yellow kunzite,
Apple aura quartz,
Peridot,
Gaia stone,
Malachite,
Emerald,
Chrysoprase,
Dioptase,
Turquoise amazonite,
Aqua aura quartz,
Lapis lazuli,
Indigo sapphire,
Tanzanite,
Sugulite,
Cobaltite,
Amethyst,
Pink fluorite,
Rose quartz,
Pink halite,
and Rhodochrosite
Way to go LA for making another character SO COMPLICATED that she'll never want to draw it again.
SupergoodjobA++
She's gonna be some mashup of either Majunasaurus (I have to stop myself from saying Majungotholus sadk;jf), Carnotaurus, Tyrannosaurus, or Allosaurus Idefk right now.
Her jaw is heavily influenced by T-Rex, but her orbital crests and forearms aren't Rex-like at all.
WE'LL JUST SEE.
Speaking of gems though, thought I'd share this with you guys. I've been buying these for a year or more now, but I never got around to mentioning them despite their superawesomecool nature.
SOAPROCKS!
These things are hella cool.
So far we have White Opal, Black Onyx, Aquamarine, Garnet, Amethyst, Gold in Quartz, Rose Quartz, Black Opal, Moonstone, and Fire Opal.
These things smell amazing, and look like real freaking stones.
While I do want all of them, the ones I'm most interested in getting are
-Marble (holysmokeswhitemarble/drools)
-Lapis Lazuli
-Smoky Quartz
-Olivine
-Jade
-Peridot
-Emerald
-Rhodochrosite
-Star Ruby
-Banded Carnelian
-Diamond
-Tanzanite
-Imperial Topaz
-Platinum, Gold, and Copper
B-But not ashamed at all to still maintain that I want every single one of them.
These guys are pretty sweet, too.
We bought an amethyst (lilac scented) crystal soap off Etsy (o-or I think it was Etsy, it was bought for me so I'd have to ask D8 ) and that was hella cool.

I have 100% faith in it, personally. I saw people tear apart the other films for their own reasons- especially the third- but I LOVED them all. Not equally, but I didn't hate any of them.
And I love the raptor training idea, not because of the surface attraction of 'OOOH THEY DO WHAT YOU TELL THEM TO DO'. But what I love is how it's a new angle on the 'impossible control' illusion that IS the Jurassic Park theme.
Like when Hammond and Ellie were in the kitchen scene, and Hammond (like a wide-eyed, hopeful child) is going on cheerfully about how everything will work out. He starts to say 'when we have control again--' but Ellie cuts him off to argue that he never had control, (which is what Malcom was saying the entire film)
It's this impossible dream. You can create the dinosaurs, but you can't control everything and assure it will all go one way. Even when you do everything right, there's even room for human sabotage (In the first movie it was Nedry. In the second, Hammond's relative. In the third, Billy. And in the fourth, the guy who looks like Guy Fieri)
I've been hounding over any leaked information, TV spots, trailers, and boards I could find to piece together the movie.
The idea is that there is a restricted area, the original park location on Nublar- but it's been sealed off and the dinosaurs they couldn't catch/didn't care the catch are left there in their new wild ecosystem. But they have to go into the 'restricted area' to find the kids, and the trained raptors (Echo, Delta, Charlie, and Blue. Blue being the leader and the most aggressive/hard to train) come into contact with the wild raptors.
The trailer makes it seem like Indominus is 'talking' to the Dimorphodons. but I'm almost certain they are just thinly veiling that the raptors are communicating (which we know they do from the original trilogy) and the wild raptors convince the trained four to turn on the humans.
I think Indominus, in the confrontation scene with the flying dinosaurs, is just aggressively 'barking' at them. She's in the aviary, which is their home- and they might be trying to attack her to get her out of their territory to which she is responding defensively. (In the first book, they go into detail on how vicious the pteradons are and how they attack anything that comes into their aviary)
It's apparent that she's traveling in and out of all the paddocks- killing the other dinosaurs. Not sure how many of the paddocks we'll get to see, but she is clearly shown to break into the aviary and (I think the first paddock will be:) the gentle giants field that the gyrosphere rolls through.
And also, the 'venomous snake/cuttlefish' design was scrapped- and the only species we're given in her genetic makeup are: Carnotaurus (in the second book, they have camouflage capabilities which is where she gets it), and Majungasaurus (which were known to be cannibalistic- and they mention how she 'ate her sibling).
There's heavy mentioning of her being 'as smart as a raptor' and 'as big as the T-Rex'- and some are even hypothesizing that she has human DNA as well, leading to her having an eerily high intelligence level. But there's no for-sure evidence for that.
Either way,
I totally understand people being skeptical! I'm just a hardcore fan who follows practically every update and knows a little too much about all the books/movies.

frankly i loved the first and third the most and was kind of meh on the second one......not because of the goldbloom, but just because I thought it was kind of boring.....still better than either american godzilla though. Either way...still going to see it, but I will probably wait a week to a month until all the dumb parents taking toddlers to a semi violent movie wear off. I get annoyed by all the stupid parents taking kids to movies that little kids should not watch. That and all the talking women and girls, guys that act like they know everything about the movie out loud, kids jumping around, the ass holes in the front row filming the whole damn movie on their phones. I swear if i see any others doing that, I am hurling garbage at em in the theater. XD
Yeah grrl!
I have five books so far on gems/minerals/crystals- I don't know as much as some people but I LOVE all the variations and different structures, formations, yadda yadda.
My favorite stone happens to be my birthstone- opal, but I also LOVE rhodochrosite (in raw form), and most of the quartz. But my favorite metallic-esque stone is probably Pyrite! (when it forms those perfect geometric squares)

I've drawn gemstones and crystaline forms like that.
It's not easy. It's very repetitive.
I assume it was hella fun considering your adoration for both things extinct giant lizardchickens and sparklybits. It really shows with every detail you put in!
I also wish I could give her many pettings because I remember that movie as being one of my favorite movies growing up as a kid and now I'm going to go watch it and I'm sorry for this run-on sentence but oh my god I'm feeling nostalgia times a million now omg. ;~;
This is just fantastic, and she looks like she could taste like FruitStripe Gum that would never loose it's flavor.
