At the beginning of winter, weather can be very changeable - and those changes can turn out to be very quick and hard to forecast. Now - for example - we can see Sigrún's settlement hit by a sudden hailstorm, destroying its dwellers' cottages. Hailstorms aren't a new thing for them to cope with, but this one is much more violent than any one they've seen before. Sigrún and Sólveig are also afraid of the unusual storm, so they're just running away from their homes to hide in a common gathering place in the centre of village and wait with their friends and neighbours until it stop.
