*Edit: He is a prairie rattler. Someone else helped me confirm!
Found a baby Prairie Rattlesnake a few nights ago while road cruising. I was so excited! This guy was only about 12" long and was soaking up heat from the road before his night time hunt. I didn't want him to get hit though so I took my photos and then moved him off the road with my hook.
I wanted to put something next to him as size reference, but not knowing 100% what he was, I didn't want to risk any biteable parts.
Do not touch venomous snakes if you do not have proper training and equipment. Do not touch any snake that you cannot 100% identify. If you see a venomous snake, give them space and respect. 80% of snake bites happen when someone tries to fuck with it. Leave them be. If they are in your yard, call animal control.

I usually look to see if they are venomous, if not I just pick them up and move them if need be, like garter snakes mostly.
I found this prairie snake while biking once heading to the road picked up set him the grass on the other side of the side walk and he took off into the field of tall grass.
