Stars twinkled in the night sky as I made my way from the bus stop down a dirt road. A cool, chilling breeze brushed past me and about 10 seconds later, I heard a loud wail emit from the woods to my right. It wasn't quite a human wail but something supernatural.
Part of me wanted to run and make a mad dash back home but there was a part of me that wanted to investigate the source of the cry.
I decided to take my chance and approach the destination of the wail as another one ripped loose from the dark woods. As I trekked through the woods, I came across a strange, bipedal beast sitting on a rock. It resembled a kangaroo only it appeared to be six foot four. It's fur was bright red and it's eyes were a stunning shade of amethyst purple. It had two downward fangs peeking out from the end of it's muzzle much like that of a muntjac. Most shockingly, it had a single white bat wing on it's back that looked torn up. The creature appeared to be crying, judging from the glowing green tracks running down its snout from the corners of its eyes.
It was so weird, yet I couldn't help but pity the poor thing. Suddenly, it stopped crying and turned its attention to me, "Please don't run away." I heard it speak telepathically to me.
"Who are you?" I asked aloud to it, standing my ground.
"My name is Curt." The creature replied, "I don't know how I even got here, to be honest. I've been preying on livestock so I won't starve. I can't form a link between sheep, chickens and cows so I go after them. Most humans are frightened of me when they see me, so they run away whenever they catch sight of me."
"Really, is that so?" I ask the beast, "It just so happens that my name is Kurt as well and it's spelled with a K."
"My name is spelled with a C." Curt replied telepathically.
"That's pretty neat, we share the same name but have a different letter." I reply, "Anyway, what's wrong?"
Curt let out a telepathic sigh, "I was just chased out of a property a few miles back. I tried my best to beg for food but they kicked me out and called me a freak."
I now found the courage to walk up to Curt and sit on the log next to him. I put my arm on his shoulder and his fur felt coarse and his body heat was very warm but I figured it was normal for a supernatural creature like him, "I'm sorry...." I replied, trying my best to console the beast.
"They even pulled a g-gun out at m-m-me and shot at me a few t-t-times. I wish I wasn't so sc-scary....." Curt sobbed telepathically, fresh glowing green tears rolling down his snout and coming to a rest on the tip of his nose as he hung his head.
Feeling sympathy for the cryptid, I got up and walked around to Curt's front and leaned in close to his face. Throwing caution to the wind, I started licking Curt's green tears from the tip of his nose and rims of his nostrils with my tongue. The tears were as hot as a hot spring in temperature and tasted like a mix of sea salt and oddly enough, maple syrup. His tears were saltier than human tears but also had a pleasant sweetness to them.
Curt gasped telepathically and pulled back a little. Even through all that fur, I could tell he was blushing. I rested my hand on his shoulder and he hung his head again, "S-sorry, I wasn't expecting that type of reaction...."
I leaned in close again and started licking the remaining tears still streaking down Curt's muzzle, running my tongue along the glowing green tear tracks from his nose to his eyes. This caused Curt to tense up in shock a little but I began massaging his back to help calm him. Eventually, I stopped licking Curt's tears and removed my hand from his back, "Sorry if I startled you by doing that, I guess I wanted to comfort you in a different kind of way. I've always been a little shy and socially awkward around others. You're kind of animalistic so I thought licking your tears instead of wiping them might help you feel at ease."
"To be honest, no one has ever shown physical affection towards me before so I was a little caught off guard." Curt replied, wiping his purple eyes with his paws.
I sat up, positioning my body so I was sitting on the lap of the kangaroo-esqe cryptid. Wrapping my arms around Curt, I pulled him into a close hug, "Well then, I guess you're no stranger to affection now, are you?"
I softly kissed Curt on the side of his snout and he blushed even further. He nuzzled me and licked my cheek with his rough, beastly tongue as he spoke telepathically to me, "That's so sweet of you, Kurt. No human has ever treated me with such kindness. I'm just so glad that I met you."
Curt felt a hot tear of joy trickle down his muzzle and he nuzzled my neck, causing the tear to leave a glowing green streak down the side of my neck. I reached up and petted and stroked his ears and he emitted a rather alien sounding purr. Smiling back at him, I nodded as I gazed into his beautiful purple eyes, "You're so very welcome, Curt. I don't understand why anyone could hate you. You're a real cutie pie."
Curt blushed in response, "Th-thanks......but it is getting pretty close to sunrise."
I then rested my head on Curt's furry thighs, wrapping my arms around them and soaking in the warmth of the shy cryptid's lap, "I know, we've been up all night. So how about we get a little sleep, huh?"
"Yeah....I'll see you tomorrow night, Kurt." The cryptid replied as he ran his paw through my hair.
I cuddled deep into Curt's lap and in about 10 minutes, I fell asleep. About an hour later, I woke up and noticed Curt had completely vanished. I looked down and noticed a dead sycamore tree leaf with a few glowing green splotches on it. It was stained with none other than Curt's tears from when he was crying before we met. I picked up the leaf and carried it home with me. It was something that I'd treasure forever.
