GAOnet: Incoming transmission 08232015:
Hal->"Life in deep space is hard, especially when you're trying to make a living in the Theta sector... Well, I'll be honest, making a living doing illegal shit. There is almost always the inevitable death waiting for you around every corner.. You can stand and fight it all you want, it'll eventually catch up.
So far.. I've been lucky. I've had some serious close calls so far.. And in this case, this was the time where I could feel San La Muerte breathing down my neck the whole way in.. Needless to say, I survived because I'm very skilled at crashing a ship after stealing it and, subsequently, faking my death."

Lots of neat things come into play from Hal's backstory here. First and foremost, he has Hemocyanin blood. This is done to first improve the conductivity of the electrical currents that flow into his extensive internal augmentations, and also so he can operate and function in environments with much less oxygen than those with Hemoglobin type blood. This was an extensive (and expensive) addition he did to himself, so he can literally run far less oxygen within his starship when he is traveling alone, thus allowing his space survivability to increase exponentially over those that would chase him. This offers him an immense advantage in low oxygen environments, as he does not need external breathing equipment to survive in them, giving him far more situational awareness and flexibility over those that are forced to wear hard suits or at least rebreathers that could easily be disabled. All this, at the cost of being less than efficient in higher oxygen environments. This disadvantage is largely overcome by modifications to his circulatory system, however these can always be compromised if not properly maintained.
Second, Hal's small beliefs in San La Muerte shows that his upbringing is actually of a Latin-American origination. He is quite fluent in a spanish-type language as that was his primary language growing up, which incidentally also gives him a mild accent when speaking English or otherwise what is referred to as a common language.
Third.. Yes, he is really good at stealing ships and then crashing them. That's what he did when he was young before he got into smuggling. The stealing part that is.. He crashed them when he was learning how to fly them on his own, and got real good at crashing them in such a way that he'd survive for the most part.
Just fun trivia on Hal I suppose x3

Only if you taking their ship....or they were hired to get said ship back. Of course if you could afford to pay a certain purple furred khyn then you may not have had to crash said ship. When you run a merc group with the name of Khynetic Solutions.....you know problems get solved one way or another!
