This is the latest in the "Mud Scout" series, a long-delayed project that is an expansion of a creation of
preppymarshmousee that sees a Girl Scout-esque troop of explorers who "go boldy forth onto grounds of questionable solidity" (often getting hopelessly stuck in the process). I authored an anthropomorhic version of the property that started with a partnership between Penny's anthro character and my "Tina" who had a thing for wandering into areas of soft ground.
This grew into an initiative that involved the characters of several other folks, which were to be featured in a series of pics depicting the 'scouts exploring various marshes, swamps and other wetlands guaranted to make a mess of those uniforms. As part of this, I took it upon myself to produce one "clean" image of each character before sending them off into the muck and mire.
This character is
sollycanthrope's "Prismi Ryussa", sister of Julie. Julie is a wereanngel based upon the Viera race of Final Fantasy, and Prismi is a Gria from the same RPG series. Both have magical abilities that make them uniquely resistant to getting in trouble on a mud hike, but willingly set those abilities aside to experience the thrill of the unique hazards of this group's travels.
Technical: One of the things that delayed this entry (along with everything else that slowed my output) was the fact that I couldn't draw human faces very well. With two of the characters, koopacooper's Roxy and Leana, I had a workaround in that they were fox and cat nekos, and could be adapted into anthropomorphic versions of themselves. With Julie and Prismi, I didn't have that luxury--not to mention that there weren't any pre-existing images of either character to work from. So I had to figure out how to draw human-faced characters.
Julie was the easier of the two as she was a combination of a Viera and a Megaman Zero character (Dr. Ciel), which meant an anime-esque depiction was in order. Not that I'm any good with that (more like I don't try to mimic Japanese-style artwork), but that effort came together well. Prismi was much closer to human in appearance, and had to wait for a spurt of inspiration that resulted in an acceptable human face that didn't slide into the uncanny valley. I started the inks using Inkscape while riding the train home from Anthrocon 2014, and started the backdrop sometime afterward, which fell victim to my rising standards of detail and went through several revisions before I combined it with the character inks, continued to develop the backdrop, and within the last month or so, started to gel at an increasing rate of speed (many of my projects speed up towards the end) until it concluded in the midst of a stream, itself an effort to improve my production speed.
Pencil on bristol, inked with Inkscape, composited together and colored using Micrograx Picture Publisher 10. 12 image layers excluding text/logos, 173 MB at full size

Welp, it seems as though you're finally, slowly beginning to come around to the idea of drawing human characters RR - and you're pretty good at it, despite your protestations! ;D
It's great to see another new Mud Scout on the roster at last! ^_^
(And as you may remember, I would've always loved to have included my pegataur girl too, but you didn't want to take on human-like characters... ^.^)
