Huh. So a competent, if arrogant, officer in his youth, was old Augustus? Might explain why his treason was dealt with quietly. Now I'm curious as to what happened to twist him that way. Was it an actual event, a la Benedict Arnold, or just a gradual drift into greed or debt? So many stories to tell, and each brings up new stories to ask about!
