Hellfarch is having a lot of fun with his new friend. The rat rolls nicely between his toes, though he's getting slick and slippery from the sweat. But if there's one thing the demon is good at, it's capturing even the most evasive of creatures and dominating their very being. This rat isn't going to escape any time soon.
Continuation from this. The rat character was made by
cantstopgrowing, who has made it available for download for Maya users here.
Blegh, this render was pretty rushed. You can find all sorts of clipping errors here and there, and I forgot to turn off the specular for the rat character's materials (not to mention I didn't subdivide it, because for some reason even previewing smoothing on this guy causes Maya to chug). There are also a bunch of strange speckles around Hellfarch's torso for some reason; I have no idea what is causing them.
On the flipside, however, I'm slowly figuring out how to reduce render times for these things! For one, I switched Hellfarch's material from a Subsurface Scattering shader to a much lighter-weight one. I don't think I was using SSS properly in my previous renders anyway, so not much was lost. I also just now realized that all of the geometry in these models is considered double-sided by the renderer, so by turning that off hopefully I can shorten render times even more. I've also figured out how to instance models from their master files, so I can create scenes like this and if I ever need to make a modification to the model as a whole, I can modify it in its own file and it'll update in the scene that it's instanced from!
